From Library Journal
A personal narrative in a rather noncohesive diary format, this book chronicles one woman's experience working in a shipyard during World War II. The book meanders between descriptive anecdotes about her coworkers, mostly men with the stereotypical attitudes of that era, and the more specific aspects of her various job assignments. Too vague and disjointed to establish a comprehensive feel for what working in a shipyard during the war years must have been like, this book nevertheless reveals the author's enthusiasm for her work and her fond memories of fellow workers. Useful for larger libraries with extensive World War II collections but definitely not an essential purchase for mid-sized public libraries.
