5.0 out of 5 stars If you get side aches from lughing--this one may not be for you, May 28, 2010
This review is from: The Battle of the Swine King, and Sundry Southron Psalms (Kindle Edition)
I got my hands on a copy of this and was a little unsure of what it was about considering the title. After reading the first chapter I was hooked and didn't put it down until I was finished. It is a mix of hysterically funny stories about life in the Appalachians over a long period of years. Some of the stories are at once both funny, and extremely touching. If you want be be entertained while still touched, pick this up and be prepared to be enthralled.

Hallmark of a good book - once I was finished I was disappointed that I couldn't read more. This is a short book with a mixture of stories, (very funny) poems and meditations on life. His characters are very well drawn and entertaining and his observations on the human condition and what is important in life are heartfelt and very touching. The best thing about this book (at .99c) is that it gives you a good taste of Mr. Ditto's writing style. I will be reading more by Mr. Ditto in future, especially once his other books become available on kindle.
