5.0 out of 5 stars Clone Wars Story, June 5, 2009
This review is from: Battle at Teth (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) (Mass Market Paperback)
Aimed for younger readers, this book is a good read for children under 10. I collect Star wars, however, and decided to get it for my collection. It covers a part of the Clone Wars movie. It contains good, full-color pictures. I suggest that you buy this if you are a kid looking for a fun Star Wars adventure, or an adult looking for a good addition to their collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shortened version of the Clone Wars animated series for beginning readers ..., December 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Battle at Teth (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) (Mass Market Paperback)
My son loves to have us read this book to him. This story, and others of its kind, are actually shortened renditions of the Cartoon Network Clone Wars animated series. The stories are modified to make them accessible to beginning readers. This one is presently beyond my son's pre-reading level but when he is reading, I have little doubt he will enjoy working his way through this book (and the others in the Clone Wars series).

We have quite a few of these and he enjoys them all. I have to say that he enjoys the ones with story lines versus those which introduce characters or the ships.

Since we have seen the shows, I sometimes ask my son what is different between the cartoon and the book. It provides me a way to ask him other questions and teach him about story development. It's certainly not literature, but the book (and the rest in the series) will engage your Star Wars: The Clone Wars-loving son or daughter.

4.0 out of 5 stars The value of loyalty and hard work, April 21, 2009
This review is from: Battle at Teth (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) (Mass Market Paperback)
"Battle at Teth" retells a chapter from "The Clone Wars " film. As the title indicates, this picture book covers the Republic assault of the Separatist stronghold on Teth. The objective of the siege is the retrieval of Jabba the Hutt's son. Far from being a literal retelling, the focus and emphasis is curious. In the film, this sequence shows the development of Anakin Skywalker's relationship with his new Padawan, Ahsoka Tano. In contrast, Ahsoka isn't even mentioned in this book. Instead, the emphasis in put on the relationship between Anakin and Clone Captain Rex. Through loyalty and perseverance, they survive the campaign and succeed in their mission to rescue Rotta the Huttlet. Given the relatively large time frame, the book is quite abbreviated. Whether it's the ascent of the monastery wall or the duel with Asajj Ventress, the narrative moves quickly so there is little detail. This brevity is fine given the target audience of second and third graders. For a more indepth retelling of the battle, advanced readers (fourth graders) should get "The New Padawan." Kirsten Mayer's adaptation is good and the attractive illustrations were all lifted from the film. The page layouts fit galactic style. Packed with combat and military themes, this particular read will best appeal to the boys. "Battle at Teth" is a fun Clone Wars adventure.
