This review is from: The Battle of Villa Fiorita (Paperback)
"The Battle of the Villa Fiorita" brings together children and adults, England and Italy, promises and passion in a way that only Rumer Godden could. Caddie and Hugh, the younger children of Fanny Clavering, follow their mother to Italy to beg her to teturn to England and their father The influence of the beautiful Villa Fiorita, of their mother's lover, Rob, of his little girl, Pia, of Italy, is a powerful story. Godden's vivid observation and evocative description of landscape are reminiscent of "Enchanted April," yet the plot of this novel is much less idyllic. Richly worth while.
