**August 2014 Update**: I'm cautiously taking my review back from one to three stars. I'm playing BF4 again via EA Access (which is the way I would recommend anyway, $5 is certainly worth a one month trial, if you don't want to pony up for a $30/year). So far many of the bugs I noticed before are gone, but I still need to take it through its paces with friends.

Very disappointed in BF4. I'm a big fan, but I just can't sit by as EA and DICE release what feels like the buggiest Battlefield ever shipped. The graphics on Xbox One are very nice and this game truly feels next gen, but I experienced in just a few hours of playing: audio dropouts, quick match not connecting me to the right servers, frequently servers would pop up and request another $50 for premium upgrade, getting kicked out of servers, crashing back to the home (only X1 game I'm having this problem with) and a complete lack of any functionality to group up in a party/squad pre-game. I'd love to be playing BF4 right now, but the reason I get it is for multiplayer gaming with friends an it is absolutely unfit and broken for that purpose.

BF3 had its problems too, and is running pretty good now...so I'm hopeful that maybe they will fix it and I'll just buy the premium version next year (I went ahead and traded away BF4 for $40 since its essentially unplayable for me). Although its pretty frustrating how ripped off I feel (I should have gotten a full refund).

Oh well, back to BF3 Premium for now. At least it works, though its a bummer having to play on 360 (instead of One).

Wow. That's all I have to say.

This game is AMAZING...when it works, which is roughly 15% of the time.

The single player does not work as it erases all progress randomly not matter what platform you play.

The multiplayer is broken because it takes ~10 attempts to get in a match because "Can't connect to server" and other error messages.

I think it's criminal that this company will make money on a game that for all intents and purposes just isn't finished, and it's not like you can return it.

Again, if they ever issue patches this WILL BE the FPS to have, but until then it is a complete frustration.

1.0 out of 5 stars Totally crashed my Xbox… 100% unplayable. December 8, 2013
Platform for Display:Xbox One|Edition:Standard
If it lets me play it will only let me play game, then crash and freeze. Most of the time it freezes right away. I called xbox and they told me to remove the disk, unplug the power from my xbox, and that if i continue to try to play after it crashes, that I will mostly destroy the internals in my Xbox one. They said they already had report of this. Now don't get me wrong, if this game were to work, absolutey the most fun game I've ever played. And the most intense battles and realistic rifles. I really hope they fix this so I can at least play this game I have invested 120 dollars in.

1.0 out of 5 stars DICE/EA - Your Game Sucks December 2, 2013

Awesome game... when it works, which is about 33% of the time now. Shame on DICE/EA/whoever for launching such a half-baked game. I can't believe I paid $60 for it, then paid another $50 for premium... yeah, I know, there's a term for that... BOHICA.

I spend more time trying to connect to a multiplayer game, then actually playing one. Sometimes, it puts me in the room for the incorrect game mode. Then, when the DICE/EA Gods finally deem me worthy enough to put me in a Conquest or Domination game, it crashes midway and I get booted out to the Xbone home screen. A little bit of advice for the DICE/EA junior developers - if you guys are expecting this twitchy behavior, then how about throwing us a bone and providing more info/status when we're trying to connect to a game or why we're unexpectedly booted out of one? So we're not left in the dark wondering why the Conquest and Domination Nazis forbid us from playing (no Conquest for you!).

It makes me wonder if the same guys also did the Obamacare website. Call of Duty is on my ban list for lag, now Battlefield 4 may be the last Battlefield I buy. This lack of QA is intolerable and should not be rewarded.

UPDATE 07-DEC - Good grief, the game works 0% of the time now. The game no longer launches/loads and I get booted out to the home screen 100% of the time now. Whatever update they published out last night made things worst for me. I hope uninstalling and re-installing the game will fix it. I wish I could rate it 0 stars.

UPDATE 09-DEC - After uninstalling, then re-installing the game and add-ons, it still wouldn't load. After contemplating taking my $110 disc to the range for target practice, I power-cycled my Xbone, and now all is back to normal, where normal is the game working 33% of the time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Game is still broken. December 13, 2013
Platform for Display:Xbox One|Edition:Standard
As of the patch on Dec. 13th, the game still freezes, crashes, has problems connecting to the multiplayer servers, and deletes campaign progress randomly. So I would suggest holding off on purchasing this.

The game we be great if it ACTUALLY WORKED! I have a high speed internet connection but it takes 30 minutes or more to actually get into a multiplayer game. Majority of the time it puts you in a game type that you didn't even select, for example you select conquest and it will put you in team deathmatch. If you are lucky enough to get in there is a 50% chance it will randomly stop working. On top of that you can't do party chat with your friends. EA Games is a bunch of scam artists. You pay $60 for a game and on TOP of that they want you to pay an additional $60 to be a "premium" member to get all of the levels that should be included in the game in the first place. They are too focused so much on how to scam their customers that they forget how to actually make a game that works. I used to love battlefield and it is the only reason that I bought the new Xbox One but this has to be the worst gaming experience of all time. I want a refund.
