Very disappointed in BF4. I'm a big fan, but I just can't sit by as EA and DICE release what feels like the buggiest Battlefield ever shipped. The graphics on Xbox One are very nice and this game truly feels next gen, but I experienced in just a few hours of playing: audio dropouts, quick match not connecting me to the right servers, frequently servers would pop up and request another $50 for premium upgrade, getting kicked out of servers, crashing back to the home (only X1 game I'm having this problem with) and a complete lack of any functionality to group up in a party/squad pre-game. I'd love to be playing BF4 right now, but the reason I get it is for multiplayer gaming with friends an it is absolutely unfit and broken for that purpose.
BF3 had its problems too, and is running pretty good now...so I'm hopeful that maybe they will fix it and I'll just buy the premium version next year (I went ahead and traded away BF4 for $40 since its essentially unplayable for me). Although its pretty frustrating how ripped off I feel (I should have gotten a full refund).
Oh well, back to BF3 Premium for now. At least it works, though its a bummer having to play on 360 (instead of One).
This was a statement made by an EA spokesperson to Polygon on or around 12/4/13:
"First, we want to thank the fans out there that are playing and supporting us with Battlefield 4," the spokesperson said. "We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game -- it is absolutely our No. 1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game. Since Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion pack was already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4, we decided to fulfill our promise to deliver it this week, but we're not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4. We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel their pain. We will not stop until this is right."
When I got my Xbox One yesterday, I was giddy with excitement to pop this game in (it's the only game I was really wanting to play at launch).
Initially, I was blown away - the graphics are amazing, the sounds are crisp, and the controls are mostly fluid. But then...I kept playing.
The problem I've always had with this series is that there seems to be some sort of "penalty" for being a newcomer to the game. The starting guns suck and they have limited attachments. My first game (unranked) I was dumped into a game of level 60-70 somethings. You know what, I'm not going to knock a star off for that though - it's how the series is albeit not the best system in my opinion.
The reason this game loses stars is because is when you do get a game going you'll have "stutter" lag. Meaning, at the time you most need your connection, you lag. Enemy in front of you?Read more ›
I really enjoy FPS games and was hoping to enjoy BF 4 for next gen. My history of FPS games date back to Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Call of Duty 1, BF 1942 etc. I enjoyed BF 3 but wasn't that impressed. I thought Bad Company and Bad Company 2 were great. However I was excited for BF 4. Well it started it out good, but then I noticed Campaign mode wasn't saving at all. I heard a mix of stories about Campaign saving or not saving on Xbox One and on the PS4. I tried doing the campaign twice and wasted about 5-6 hours of my own time to see that it doesn't save. HOW CAN DEVELOPERS SCREW UP THE CAMPAIGN? I cannot recall a time in my life where I couldn't save a campaign, solo play, RPG etc. It blows my god damn mind.
Lets talk about multiplayer? It freezes a lot during game play. Glitches are all over the place, such as the single bullet kill. Want to play with friends? Good freaking luck. You basically have to tell your friends what server to join and hope they all make it in. Want to work on your load outs? Good luck. You have to do it in the beginning or in the MIDDLE of game play. Want to play on servers? Good luck getting a stable server. They crash or freeze every 30-60 mins. Also, I have noticed that XP from the previous match doesn't count toward your progress sometimes. Overall...this game is a cluster **** of train wrecks. This is totally unacceptable for multi-billion dollar developers and publishers. It's 2013 (Almost 2014) EA and DICE! Get your **** together or people will continue to file class action lawsuits.
A whopping 600mb+ patch was released on 12-13-2013. Servers seem a little more stable but it seems the game is unbalanced with certain weapons. I think the single bullet kill is back.Read more ›

Had a rough start but I feel it finished strong. Went back to playing this even after Hardline was released. Unfortunately I will not be returning to the BF franchise. Read morePublished 19 days ago by Robert Gibbons
