EA's Shameful Registration Process, August 17, 2007
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Battlefield 2 Booster Pack Collection (Euro Force & Armored Fury) (DVD-ROM)
The Battlefield 2 Booster Pack Collection has a ridiculously complicated registration process. I regret having made the purchase. Potential purchasers should just say "NO" to Electronic Arts for treating software customers like this!

I will never buy another product from EA. This "booster pack" is nothing more than a few mediocre maps with recycled guns to go along with it. If that was not bad enough, no one actually plays the new maps anyway. You'll be hard pressed to find a game with more than 25 people in it.
and to top it off, you need to log onto EA's website to register the packs to ONE ALIAS you have from BF2. So if you and your siblings play, or you have more than one Alias, you can only play any of the bonus content on one of them.
Not to mention, EA's website has some serious problems, and out of all of the games I've registered, this one has been by far, hands down, the WORST. It took several tries attempting to get EA to recognize the CD-Key I entered.
EA is the devil and gamers should boycott their games.

MAYBE worth the ordeal, January 9, 2007

The new maps are great and are definitely worth the price. I just have a couple of issues...
One, which has been mentioned in almost every review I've read (here and elsewhere), is that it most certainly IS a pain to register. I just thought the complainers were a bunch of stupid newbies who couldn't figure out how use a mouse, but now that I've been through it, you all have my sympathy and I'm confident that even the most die-hard gamer would have trouble with this.
A few things I learned that might help others: be sure you type in your Battlefield 2 name correctly because you can only do it once before you have to attempt to contact EA's tech support if you make a typo. That might be obvious, but it'll save you a lot of time and heartache if you just make sure you type it right.
Also, if your name doesn't work (because of the seemingly prevalent "this name is already in use" problem), unfortunately, like me, you'll have to create an entirely new BF2 name and start from scratch. Pretty irritating when you've got a nicely decorated soldier. I'm sure not everyone will have that severe of a problem, but it's the only thing I got to work after four hours of tinkering and no response from EA's support.
One other thing to keep in mind if you get frustrated is that they have this bizarre setup that "reserves" screennames from AOL and other IM services, so if you get the "this name is already in use" message even if you already have that name as your own, it's probably because of that. I think that's what's causing them a lot of trouble. It was a nice concept, but I didn't get to use my standard name that I always use and nobody else ever thinks of because I had used the name probably ten years ago on AOL and couldn't remember my password if my life depended on it. So, I had to add a couple symbols to it when I started over with a whole new soldier name.
If you keep having trouble, just do a search for Battlefield 2 Booster Packs Collection registration, especially on EA's forums, you'll probably find the help you're looking for.
Something else to consider: You HAVE to use an online BF2 account to play the new maps and you can only use one. Also, forget practicing offline, you also HAVE to be connected to the internet with your online account to play the game in SINGLEPLAYER. Registering Battlefield 2142 was a little irritating, but this is downright frustrating. It's the goofiest attempt at copy protection I've ever seen. I can see having to register your online account to play online, but honestly, who is going to try to steal this game to play singleplayer? I guess even EA forgot that they designed it as a multiplayer online game...
But if you mostly play online and use your online account to practice in singleplayer anyway, the new maps are well worth the bizarre maze of circular logic that is EA.
