Product Description

Platform: PlayStation 4 | Edition: Standard

Get a piece of the action in Battlefield™ Hardline, a fresh, new take on Battlefield that allows you to live out your cops and criminal fantasy.

Combining an emotionally-driven single player story inspired by popular TV crime dramas, and an all-out-war multiplayer on the streets of Los Angeles and Miami, Hardline delivers the most complete FPS on the market.

From the Manufacturer

Single Player Character Bios

Nick Mendoza

Newly christened Miami detective Nick is from the wrong side of the tracks, the first legitimately employed member of his family for generations. Nick's a loner, a crusader, and is determined to make his way to the top of the pile. His making detective is validation that he's left behind the man he feared he might become.

Marcus "Boomer" Boone

After a few tours in Iraq as an intelligence analyst, Boomer came home and started applying the skills he learned from Uncle Sam to the criminal trade, acting as an IP specialist for a variety of nefarious characters. Though he's a gray-hat hacker, Boomer really wants to be one of the good guys and his old friend Khai gives him that chance.

Julian Dawes

Known for picking young cops out of the ranks and shaping them into star detectives, Dawes's office has been a place of tutelage and gentle idolatry for a generation of Miami's finest. Blessed with a politician's charisma and a forensic scientist's eye, Dawes is clearly grooming himself for the top brass.

Khai Minh Dao

A first-generation Vietnamese-American who hails from outside LA, Khai turned her back on the west coast and a rebellious youth to put a star on her chest. Rising quickly through the ranks, she's established herself to her fellow officers and the usual underworld suspects as a smart, able detective who isn't afraid to let her temper take over.

Tyson Latchford

Tyson spent his youth slinging cocaine, but has evolved into an upper middle-class criminal who spends more time with spreadsheets than scales and gram bags. His job is to make sure the drugs get to where they’re supposed to go; after that it’s somebody else’s problem. When he’s not working, Tyson imagines himself taking up golf.

NEW MOVES TO OWN THE BATTLEFIELD

More money, more problems -- Take control using new tactics to gather intel, obtain warrants and takedown with non-lethal force to make the arrests. Secure the cash in a thrilling new battlefield playground.

HIGH SPEED AND ACTION PACKED

Fullfill your need for speed in thrilling new action packed modes that make for intense and fluid gameplay. Hop in new powerful muscle cars, sleek bikes or even give your whole crew a lift in transport or armored trucks. Get a piece of the action.

PULL OFF THE PERFECT HEIST

New maps and gadgets change the way you play. Use grappling hooks and ziplines to scale city buildings and zip across the city with the cash. No matter the strategy, teamwork will be essential to running the turf war.

3.0 out of 5 stars Different in all the right places. March 17, 2015
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard
I have played about 5-6 hours of MP so far, but I did stay up all night and beat the campaign, and thus am writing a release-day review for those on the fence!

First off, this game is not just a rehash of BF4. All of the BF games have large amounts of similarities, as does this. But, I think it is the freshest take on BF since BC. Besides, I personally am glad it is different; If I want a military-based FPS, the BF4 community is still very active!

Reasons to play the campaign: There is a lot of effort spent by Visceral in creating an immersive campaign, and it is my favorite BF campaign, after BC2, obviously! (I realize that it being my "favorite" is not a good reason, but I think it conveys my enjoyment). Also, the campaign is more of a centerpiece than other BF games. And, I don't think I am the only one who feels that way; look at reviews by Polygon and other sources and you get more of the same feel.

Campaign:
-The campaign took ~9.5 hours to beat (which is decently longer than it took me to beat BF4, as I recall)
-The campaign is divided into 10 episodes. I mean this literally; at the beginning of most of the episodes they have a "previously" on segment that highlights what happened. I actually found it very engrossing and was enjoying myself thoroughly because of things like this.
-It doesn't really highlight current relevant cultural questions regarding militarization of the police, in my opinion. I don't want to get into spoilers; but, the game absolutely does not take itself too seriously. Do NOT get me wrong, you ARE a cop running around with carbines blasting 100s of enemies.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for hardcore classic BF players March 19, 2015

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I have played most FPS games since 1990, including Battlefield. So far I played the game for 12 hours/30 mins lvl 36 and finished the campaign. Let's talk about campaign first since it was really fun.

The single player feels like Rainbow Six Vegas mixed with Splinter Cell. Stealth is the #1 priority, but you can go gun crazy if you like it that way. Story is interesting and it takes you to very exciting environments from deserts to swamps and mansions in LA. Graphics are ok, but it could be lot better for a 2015 video game.

Lets talk about Multiplayer NOW:

Graphics in MP are slightly tuned down due to lag and nasty problems that we had in BF4. The gameplay is fast-paced, don't expect something like BF4/3. If you have played BF3 Close Quarters DLC, you can get a sense of how this game is. Game modes are interesting and fun AS LONG AS you are playing as a team and not running around like a lone wolf. Some maps are smaller than the others, but in general map size is ok for this game except for teamdeathmach which is a disaster. 64 players in a relatively small map and a HORRIBLE re-spawn system for TM, but other game modes are ok. Just like other BF titles, Conquest is the heart of the game; however, heist is another fun game mode that most players spend their time playing as well. Blood money game mode is fun IF you have good team mates.

Now that I mentioned the positive aspects of the game, let me cry about some negative aspects.

1- The game doesn't have region lock just like BF3-4. What is region lock you ask? It's simple, that means if I'm in U.S. and I choose U.S. servers only ( East and West regions) I MOST play with U.S. players, but this game allows players from U.K., China, Japan,.. join U.S. servers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Battlefield! Just different. March 26, 2015
By NMG
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard
I keep hearing people describe this game as a "cheap mod" or "not a Battlefield game". What you're really saying is that you don't like change and BETTER change. This is one of the better Battlefield games and I'm speaking strictly of the multiplayer. It has FAR less issues than Battlefield 3 and 4 at launch. It's faster paced and tighter in the gameplay department. It still feels like Battlefield in the way you move and deliver actions.

I see a lot of people getting really frustrated because they claim it doesn't have the teamwork of previous Battlefield games. This game is ALL about teamwork. If you play Blood Money, Heist, Rescue or any objective game working in a close team you will be able to control games. The thing is that most pub players care about their kill / death ratio and not at all about the teamwork. This is nothing new. I've gotten revived by an Operator randomly maybe sub 10 times and I'm over level 50.

Quick bottom line, this game is a great addition to the series. Visceral put a lot more thought in this than DICE ever did in Battlefield 3 and 4. Map design, power weapons and so on. Is it perfect? No. Are you going to get shot by a XM25 Airburst from a roof in unlimited quantities though? Nope. Are you going to get sniped by a sniper laying on a building top you can only parachute to? Nope. Thoughtful design in general for a Battlefield at last.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy March 21, 2015
By Andrew

Great game. Haven't been a fan of battlefield but decided to go out on a limb and buy it. Great game modes that will appeal to all people and I recommend playing hot wire. They really improved the combat, making it easier to kill. Different from battlefield 4 but in my opinion better. A must buy
