From personal experience.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD the game from AMAZON. go to [...] download ORIGIN. install ORIGIN. then copy the product key from AMAZON and paste it into the redeem code section in ORIGIN.

this way you can tell where to download and install the file via the settings button in ORIGIN, with AMAZON it just tries to download to your C: drive and if you're out of storage you are pretty much SOL. So do yourself a favor and download like I described above and save yourself some time.

What happened with me was I downloaded from amazon, then it installed origin and asked me to redownload battlefield 3.... total waste of time and bandwidth.

Had no issues downloading from amazon, so it's case by case if you do. As far as the game I just got done playing it and within the 30 mins I did play it I was totally blown away by how awesome it is, the graphics are phenomenal. The game play for multiplier is awesome. I would dare say this is the BEST FPS I have ever played to date! You won't be disappointed, if you are debating between this and call of duty, don't waste your time.

Great price through amazon, but a complete waste of time downloading / "Preloading" from Amazon. Still had to install Origins and the RE-DOWNLOAD the whole 11 gigs to play the game. Amazon screwed up here, either that or Origins is just crap.

Mr Pinks "fix" didn't do anything for me, origins just stays on "Preparing" for the game and never changes.

Got a great a deal from amazon, but the experience was horrible because of the double huge download and having to wait to play my game after I thought I was pre-loaded and ready to go.

About the game: its Battlefield, the game is pure awesomeness. Any way you can get it is worth it. Just warning about the experience from getting a digital download from Amazon.

I never played any battlefield game but I heard about its concept and gameplay. My reason that got me hyped was the Graphics and Audio tech being used in BF3, the Frostbite 2.0 Engine. I was absolutely stunned with the graphics quality and sound of guns and explosion probably most realistic sounds ever heard in video game. First thing, do not compare to Call of Duty because I find COD significantly easier to play in terms on learning curve, of course takes quite of skill to become proficient player. BF3 is team game, only way to rock out your game is every team action counts. Battlfield 3 is best enjoyed when played with friends, absolutely fun and to do teamwork and get rewarded as same time.

Gameplay & Multiplayer-
Two things - Responsive and Realistic. So DICE upgraded the animation engine which results in more fluid control of character. It is like what you expect is what you get, realistic game style though, not super arcade style. The guns have proper amount of recoil, gravity affects trajectory of bullets, they curve downwards at longer distances. Simply put that this isn't casual game, it is quite hardcore if wish succeed with skill. Battlfield 3 focus more on multiplayer so gameplay is quite different from singleplayer (which is more like tech demo with cheesy story). Multiplayer, you drive vehicles, explore and sneak around, work as small effective squad to take on opponent team. As I said before, work as team (even four man squad can wreak havoc) and win games otherwise it looks like chaos in battlefield. Vehicle are such as jets and helicopters are little difficult to control, may require quite bit of practice and luck to get them first(unless you are playing smaller multiplayer games, 32vs32 is tough to get them.... Maps are really big (yes it is battlfield, it is supposed to be massive to get that feel), it is quite easy to get behind enemy lines, prefareably as a squad so you can take cover respawn squadmates. Well I am new to battlefield 3 and sharing the experience so far from playing about 9 hours of MP.

Graphics - Frostbite 2.0 Engine shines in a heavily power rig, I built mine recently about two weeks before release, it cost me around 1300 and I haven't desktop for a long time, last time was some few years, been gaming on Xbox. PC provides higher quality and framerate, two features makes every console game to be inferior after playing on desktop for a while. There are certain issues playing game in multiplayer as there is a lot of things happening, so the framerate drops randomly, I am using the latest drivers and profiles for my 6850s crossfired, 4GHz overclocked Phenom II 3.2 Quad and 8 GB DDR3. This game requires more optimization but still runs awesome, compared console version, they signifcantly more smoother and heavily detailed. And yes 60 frames that is something you don't get on console, makes the game feel more responsive.

SinglePlayer - Like I said, it is tech demo with a cheesy story. There are spectacular scenes that make so real that you can ask yourself, I think this is how it made look like in real life. Story wasn't anything new and very predictable, boring. It was not even emotional at all. Seems like DICE didn't focus at all on the story.

Coop - only 6 missions, what %$#*(! . Okay well yet again DICE didn't think much of it. Most probably DLC may expand this part. They also lack save checkpoints resulting always of restart of the mission and it can be very annoying.

I got battlefield 3 for its multiplayer so it is no doubt a winner for multiplayer, even for Game of Year Multiplayer(Only). If you are looking forward MP action, then go for it, its worth every buck, there is just so much to do.

**Update - Servers had issues initially to maintainly the load of players coming to play this game, they are getting better everyday, DICE is working hard to patch everyday to whatever extent to smooth out the game. I can suggest to buy the game a month later if you are not sure about quality. So far it is quite better, less laggy games. Read more ›

Played them all and I was ready for BF3. My PC: 2500k, Asus P8Z68-V Pro, 8GB Ripjaws, 1GB 5850. Blows the consoles away. I did not have any problem with install. I played Singleplayer and multiplayer four hours each on day one. Browser navigation interface takes a minute to get used to but works fine for me. I have not used the squad join or friends invite/join. I was shocked my xbox controller worked. You have to map some buttons to make it more familiar. Button presses during campaign still seem to need mouse and keyboard interaction. Other than that X360 control works perfect. Awesome game. Must have for any Battlefield fan.

Played the life out of this game both single player and online and it was enjoyable, but like most games these days, it underwent loads of changes over time because it wasn't a finished product. Ridiculous amounts of DLC's ruined this game along with Battlefield 4 being scheduled for release too soon after this game.
