5.0 out of 5 stars Star league battlecruiser emerges out of the mists of time
This is the first major strike against the Clan homeworlds, following a trail blazed by the Smoke Jaguar defector in the first of the "Twilight of the Clans" series. A huge fleet is assembled, with dozens of ships, including transports and the Inner Core's best warships. Even some new Frigates built using recaptured Star League technology. But most chilling...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Clans have turned wuss...
Well, the Inner Sphere bias has turned amazing in the new book. Not only are Elementals suddenly becoming easier and easier to defeat (as opposed to not being stopped by a medium laser in their first appearance, and massive trauma being an ignorance!) but of course the Clan OmniMechs and fearsome Warships are now also easy to defeat, and they don't even THINK of getting...

But most chilling and impressive is the emergence of a 300-year-old Star League battle cruiser-- it had been hidden and hoarded for centuries by Com Star for just such a grand and glorious battle. By far the largest warship in the fleet, and probably the largest in space for that era. Wow! There is one naval engagement with a Ghost Bear fleet, to whet our appetite for action, but the REAL action is building toward the sequel. Think of this novel as "Part 1." Here's good character building, good plot, and good action. Helps forget the stasis and total lack of action of the preceding volume in this series. The Hunters is highly recommended ! ! !

4.0 out of 5 stars A MUST BUY, April 24, 2000
This review is from: Battletech 35: The Hunters: Twilight of the Clans 3 (Paperback)
The troops are assimbled, the new Lord is in his seat and there is war brewing in the Inner Sphere. The 5 Great Houses wants to do what no other person has thought of doing. The only problem is they must do it together. Robert Thurston has created one of the best Battletech novels I have ever read. If you're into the more subtle aspect of Battletech this book is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal, November 17, 1999

This review is from: Battletech 35: The Hunters: Twilight of the Clans 3 (Paperback)
This book truly opens the Battletech universe. With masterful writing, the author brings to life breathtaking space and land battles. Bringing a previously neglected side of the universe into play.

However, I would recommend this book if you want some political views...who is trying to stop the Task Force? And why?

3.0 out of 5 stars A good book, but not a great one, July 5, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Battletech 35: The Hunters: Twilight of the Clans 3 (Paperback)
This book, while exciting, definetly shows the inner sphere bias of all the recent books. The battle is laughable in the stupidity of the Clan commander. I mean, the Comguards can be excused for not having anyting resembling tactics, but the clans have been fighting Warship battles for centuries. Still, it's got some good action, and also points out the weakness of the inner sphere to treachery, something that has been neglected recently. A far better book than freebirth, but not as good as it should have been. Skip freebirth and read this.

This review is from: Battletech 35: The Hunters: Twilight of the Clans 3 (Paperback)
To all those who complain that this book didn't have enough "cool 'mech combat" I must say that drama is more than combat. The atmosphere of tension hanging over the characters in this book was palpable. The naval battle was incredible. The end was........well, I'll let you find out for yourself. A great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, you are learning Gressman, March 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Battletech 35: The Hunters: Twilight of the Clans 3 (Paperback)
Well, I could not rate it 5 stars, it was not all that, but it was an excellent addition to the Battletech book universe. Gressman had the honor of writing about a space battle, which gives us a new look at the Battletech wars. All though the first few pages were ful of boring training and the book had no interesting 'Mech combats, Gressman can really write a book.
