Edwin Kagin's Baubles of Blasphemy hit my funny bone repeatedly. He tackles such issues as religion, evolution, holidays and intelligent design with an aplomb that is fresh, witty and satirical. This book is enormously readable. Because it is written in segments, you can pick it up at anytime and enjoy something new at each sitting. Kagin knows his Bible and doesn't hesitate to quote it. Don't miss the selections entitled Dear Intelligent Designer and On the Gospel of Thaddaeus. This book is for any person with a brain and a sense of humor.

If humor, intelligence, and iconoclastic prose are what you are looking for, look no further 'Baubles of Blasphemy.' This assortment of irreligious works blends satire, sarcasm, and sacrilege into an entirely readable work for all those who question the existence of the supernatural.

If you are a true believer, this book will be utter sacrilege. If you have an open mind, this book will make you think and laugh and think again. Edwin F. Kagin's humor and insight on subjects as diverse as the Blessed Virgin Mary and separation of church and state may cause you to revise your own viewpoint and look at the world a little differently. I can't wait to share Hades with Edwin Kagin.

You don't have to read the doggerel (although even some of it is rather amusing). Between the poems are pearls of wisdom, polished in wit.

The writing is comparable to H. L. Mencken's, but not as mean. It is unique, and the whole work is marvelous.

This book should touch everyone who touches it. I have difficulty understanding otherwise intelligent people's believing in something that cannot be proven and makes no sense, and they may have difficulty understanding Kagin. But they should try. He makes sense.

I just finished your book.

You make me laugh. I applaud your style. Your Humor defuses and dilutes. Your Humor allows views from perspectives outside ones own. Rationale thought is so refreshing after being inundated in a sea of humanity permeated with fantasy and myth. You are one of the five percent out of six point six billion and counting. You are not arrogant or intolerant. You just state the FACTS in a clear logical way. I just wish all humans could read and understand your book NOW without dogmatic filters. Perhaps, the world would suddenly be a better place. The poetry provokes thought and delights ones inner child. Your facts are right on. Your research was obviously well done. I am just sick of being tolerant and respecting views that are considered mainstream. Religion is one of the worst, most dangerous inventions of mankind. Those mainstream views and their dogmatic followers are injuring me and mine as well as the whole of our little speck of dust called earth. The entire ocean planet, the entire biosphere is near a major equilibrium disruption. We are the lucky generation of MAN to witness the `fruits' of the industrial age. Our fragile world economy is based on stability. Stability is about to evaporate in a `quantum flip'. The beautiful positive utopian `Star Trek' dreams of a brilliant hopeful future just simply do not appear to be a possible extrapolation of the path our world is on. Gee...I hope an awakening can happen and it is not too late for rationale solutions. Perhaps your book will help. I will try to get 10 of my friends to read it.

Baubles of Blasphemy provides insight into what author Edwin Kagin calls the "American Religious Civil War". It is enlightening, amusing, and scary, all the same time. This Civil War is still in progress, and no American can afford to wait to find out what it's all about.

Whether you are a believer or non-believer, if you pride yourself on being a free thinker with an open mind and continue to expand your knowledge, you MUST read Mr. Kagin's book.

Read it slowly and let it sink in; then read it again.

This book could make you mad, it will surely make you laugh, and it could open your eyes to facts you never knew. You will definitely learn something from it regardless of your political or religious persuasion.

It is obvious that Edwin Kagin knows the Bible inside and out. He also has a dedicated understanding of our democracy and where it could lead.

Do yourself a favor and open your mind up to Mr. Kagin's brillant and eloquent works and become a more enlighted person for it. I cannot recommend it enough.

I was expecting the same hubgrub gripes about this and that, all of which I can never put much weight behind but I was really surprised to have an enjoyable, humorous and enlightening read. I was most appreciative of spiritual nature of the book which I don't think was the authors intent but that was my take. I have never considered Atheism a spiritual path but there are some really wonderful poems and hysterical social commentary that brought me peace and filled my heart with joy, which seem to be by-products of religious endeavors that last time I checked. Actually, the main point of the book is about separation of church and state. Kagin's presentation of this vital issue is quite poignant and convincing.

Edwin Kagin is an attorney fighting the good fight of keeping church and state separate. In Baubles of Blasphemy he opens a window of reason using humor and unflinching wit. He brings fresh air into the stagnant stench of religion and its influence on society. I've had many many laugh attacks.

GO EDWIN!! Keep up the great work!! I can't wait to read what leaks out of your brain next.

Baubles of Blasphemy, written by Edwin Kagin, is an awesome book that everyone should have on their shelf. August Brunsman said that this book should get 7 As. I agree with him. Edwin says things that I have been trying to tell people for years. My favorite passages was "No Virginia, there is no Santa Claus" and the discussions about the American Religious Civil War. I want to buy several copies of this book for my friends and family in the hopes they would find it illuminating.
