I bought this watch as a replacement for a stolen Breitling Aeromarine Colt Quartz. It is a completely different time peice to what you would expect to find in your average swiss watch store. The watch is slightly smaller than you how it appears online and how it compares to cheaper alternatives, and whilst initially expecting a bolder presence, I have since come to the realisation that this premium example of the Classima Executive series personifies the history of Baume et Mercier. Quite simply it defines an understated level of elegance and perfection.

I have a Maurice Lacroix Les Classique which is my day watch. I love it irrespective that it is Quartz powered and similar in its classic appearance. The Baume et Mercier however, is in a different league, one comparable to IWC, at a fraction of the cost. I can't stop admiring its beauty and understated design. The Arabic numerals, blue steel hands and silver guilloich face reflects an incredibly subtle, yet truly amazing and unique watch that I wear with pride for any occasion. The GMT and 40 hours of reserve power are also particularly noteworthy features of the A8838 which differentiate it from its more modest classima options.

For choosing one of the world's oldest swiss watch makers, you won't be disappointed and I think it is a far superior alternative to the mass produced Omegas and Tags that are so common place nowadays. I even like it more than my Original Breitling!

Buying online is a safe and attractive option, as it provides great value for your purchase. Just be aware that you will not get a Certificate of Authenticity from dealers that are not authorised with the respective watch brand. This could lead to undervaluing your purchse so definitely something to think about when choosing your online store.
