The whole experience is big disappointment!, November 28, 2008
This review is from: Baume & Mercier Women's 8573 Diamant Watch (Watch)
Buyers, be aware: AMAZON is not an authorized dealer for Baume and Mercier. Read further to learn why it is a problem...
I bought this watch for my wife as a present. First, it came in a box from a different B&M watch. I called AMAZON Customer Service and was promised to be sent the right box and the right manual with it. It took almost a month! All this time my wife could not wear it as I intended to return th watch as is if I did not receive the items. Finally, when it was received and we went ahead and altered the wrist band to her size, the watch started sporadically loosing time (going ahead or behind more then 15 minutes in a day!!!). Called Customer Service again: was told to contact another department (Amazon Watch repair) who told me that this type of defect is not covered by Amazon warranty and the watch needs to be sent to manufacturer repair facility in TX (at my own expense at the time). It took a while to get it to manufacturer, by then the watch has stopped completely and B&M wrote back to me that this watch was not bought from authorized B&M dealer and I have to pay $230 to repair it as the battery leaked into the mechanism. Called Amazon Customer Service back as paying for what seemed to be a warranty repair of a brand new watch just purchased seemed REDICULOS. They told me that Amazon Watch repair people made a mistake and Amazon warranty covers it. Called those guys again: they indeed told me to send the watch to one of their facilities in mid-west (also not an authorized B&M repair shop). If you are tired of reading this, imagine how I felt going through all this!!!
I requested something in writing as I told them they gave me conflicting directions in the past and I do not want to be blamed for misinterpreting their instructions. Was told they NEVER do that in writing. At this point I was fed up with all the nonsense and just wanted the watch fixed. Amazon Customer Service reimbursed my for shipping expenses and I decided not to push my luck by sending a $1,500 watch to some small shop in Kentucky and agreed to pay B&M to fix the watch.
I am Amazon customer for many years and only had good experience with them so far, but they should stop selling watches and stick to their core business.
Customers, if you still plan to buy a watch from Amazon.com, see your doctor, as the pills you are on ain't working!!!
