5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality
Much better than most loops out there. Just make sure to get the right power lens and use the right side next to your eye.

3.0 out of 5 stars Right Choice of Loupe?
I'm still trying to decide whether this was a good choice of eye loupe. When I was maybe twelve years old I bought a jeweler's loupe that probably cost fifty cents (I remember that amount was inscribed in red wax pencil on its side), and I had it a long time (probably is still around someplace). I'm still trying to decide whether this was a good choice of eye loupe. When I was maybe twelve years old I bought a jeweler's loupe that probably cost fifty cents (I remember that amount was inscribed in red wax pencil on its side), and I had it a long time (probably is still around someplace). It was a black plastic item with a glass lens like this one, but it fit me without a problem. Now maybe my eye socket anatomy has changed, but this one feels of a smaller diameter, and I have to really grimace to have it stay in my eye. Also--my fault for choosing it--the 7x model has a very short working distance, which just adds to the inconvenience. The power/convenience tradeoff means you should get the 5x, I think.

I intend to look for the old one to compare; I don't think it's my imagination that the flare at the end was a bit more pronounced, and held in the eye better.

Anyway, for B&L chauvinists, you will be glad to see the name emblazoned on the side for possible snob appeal. Me, I may look again for a no-name model I saw that has a rubberized flared part and sells in the 3-4 dollar range.
