About Baxter of California
Welcome to cutting-edge skincare created by Baxter Finley in 1965. It started with a single product: Super Shape, a men’s skin conditioner that offered protection from the sun and sea. This gender-specific breakthrough was no gimmick.
Suddenly guys got grooming. In the years since, Baxter of California pioneered a comprehensive range of products tailored to a man’s needs. Years of research by our experts proves that all skin is not created equal.
Our approach is science plus nature, built from the ground up in California. We may be old school in concept, but we’re high-tech in practice.
Bottom line: Finley’s dry skin began a revolution. Baxter’s legacy meets advanced research: This is the evolution of men’s grooming.

Note that the shampoo includes menthol and the percentage must be somewhat high as it slightly irritated by nose, eyes, armpits, and "nether regions". The feeling was similar, but to a FAR LESS extent, to what happens if you accidentally rub Icy Hot Pain Relieving Balm in these same places. Again it wasn't as bad - Icy Hot's Menthol content is high enough to actually burn eyes, nose, arm pits, and other areas. Despite it being only mildly irritating, this is something that needs to be foot-stomped: you don't normally TRY to get soap in your eyes, but if you do, this shampoo will be more irritating than normal.
I found that the shampoo cleaned my hair very well overall. I have somewhat oily hair and "normal shampoo" doesn't do the job, so I appreciated how well it cleaned, despite having to use a little more than I do with my normal brand.
I've now used about 3/4 of the bottle and I continue to like it (just raised my review to 5 Stars). The product has grown on me the longer I use it - especially as a "change of pace" to ensure that my hair is cleansed of the residue from the normal store brands the my wife buys.
For your information - I have think wavy hair that is about 4 inches in length at its longest.
All in all... I felt like it was a bit too strong, but if you have very oily hair it may work great for you.
08/05/2013 Update: The pump must let water seep into the bottle as you shower, because as I'm getting to the bottom of the bottle the shampoo is getting very watery.
The scent is a very pleasant minty fragrance that I've received compliments on. I used a couple different shampoos while using this and found that to be the most pleasant and I kind of associate that fragrance with clean hair now.
As for the price of the bottle, keep in mind that it is higher end than the average shampoos you get at the supermarket. Think more along the lines of Aveda and Paul Mitchell. Also, I use one to two pumps per wash. This amount lasts several months with average use. Initially, I was using a lot because I wasn't getting the excessive foam of other shampoos. Don't worry: it cleans without foaming too much (again, think Aveda).
Give it a shot, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
