Explore the Book by J. Sidlow Baxter is an absolute phenomenon. This book is to be compared with C-4. It is powerful and explosive!! Baxter does a superior job in analyzing the Holy Scriptures and presenting the facts so that the average lay person may fully grasp pertinent spiritual knowledge. I particularly appreciate how Baxter provides the historical account of the Bible. It helps the reader to understand the original scene and setting, which further assists in our relating the Bible to our modern culture. We do not possess the Bible but we possess a translation of the Bible and Baxter delivers a solid and accurate supplement to our social and cultural understanding. Explore the Book is a must read for everyone that is involved in some kind of ministry. From historical analysis to "type teaching", Baxter's writing clearly packs an awesome punch! I highly recommend that every library of Christian literature save an open slot for Explore the Book. Kudos!

If I had to give up everything but my Bible, this work would be on my top three "to keep" list. It is a wealth of information. Seldom do I preach, teach or approach any Biblical sermon or topic without consulting Baxter.

Baxter takes each book of the Bible and analyzes it like a masterful painting. His interpretative method of dissection holds the Scriptures in their high place, and wonderfully unveils the very plan and purposes of God woven throughout them. It is a magnum opus of Biblical exposition.

From lay Sunday School teacher to seminarian, _Explore The Book_ provides great utility. It is among the most practical and useful tools on my bookshelf.

It is actually a three volume set in one, and is a bargain when you consider the price against its utility.

I have been studying this book along with Bible reading for years, beginning with a personal acquaintance with J. Sidlow Baxter and hearing him preach numerous times. I feel this book is so important that I have bought it for each of my grown children.

"Explore the Book" is an extremely insightful and indepth study of all the books of the Bible. There is no doubt as to Dr. Baxter's scholarship and credentials, and anyone truly wanting to understand the Old and New Testament will find this book brings intellectual, historical, and archeological facts to bear out, and help understand, the truth of the inspired Word of God, as well as showing the overall plan of God in the lives of humankind. You will gain a comprehensive view of the entire scripture, and be able to "give a reason for the hope that is within you."

We have used Explore the Book by Dr. Baxter for several years in our bible Academy. It is our number one text book. When we were told from the company that we were buying from that it was out of stock, we called book companies all across the U.S. trying to locate Explore the Book. If one wants to be a real in depth Bible Scholar, then Explore the Book is the book.

This is a large one volume Bible survey. Each book in the Bible is covered by one to four short chapters. They can be read quickly or studied in depth. Each chapter brings out the underlying theme and design of salvation through Jesus Christ. The formidible is reduced to simplicity. After reading the chapters dealing with a single book of the Bible, the reader will marvel at God's design of His written word. The reader will understand what each individual book in the Old and New Testament is about. It is unnecessary to read from cover to cover the entire book. New Christians as well as seasoned Bible believing pastors should gain from even short studies out of "Explore The Book." This book is recommended for anyone desiring the meat of God's word. The only serious problem is recommending reading translations other than the KJV. I recommend this book over most study Bibles. It is one of the few books I wouldn't mind having when stranded on an island.

I am currently using this book in Bible Institue classes and it is a wealth of invaluable information about THE greatest book ever written, the Bible! It opens up this Bible in a way I have never seen before! The Bible is a whole different book, opened up and understandable with the help of this book as a guide. All I can say is get it and read it, it is worth every penny!

In my opinion any person who is aspiring to get an in depth, easy to understand but yet full of structure and truth in a book, Explore the Book is a MUST HAVE. The Bible college that I presently attend, Principles of Life Bible Collge, which is Headed by Dr.'s Douglas and Betty Cleare in Nassau Bahamas uses this book as a study guide, and with my sudies it has become more than a guide, it's a must needed and essential tool.

I HAVE READ WITH GREAT BLESSING AND INTEREST EVERTHING DR. BAXTER HAS WIRTTEN FOR OVER 30 YEARS. I HAVE HEARD HIM MINSITER ON MANY OCCASIONS. HIS "EXPLORE THE BOOK" IS THE FINEST OVER VIEW OF SCRIPTURE THAT I HAVE EVER READ. I HAVE READ NEARLY EVERY BOOK IN THAT FIELD. IT IS LIKE DAVID SAID CONCERNING GOLAITHS SWORD "GET IT FOR ME, FOR THERE IS NONE LIKE IT!" MY COPY OF "EXPLORE THE BOOK" WAS GIVEN TO ME UPON MY GRADUDATION FROM THE UNIVERISTY, I HAVE USED IT IN MY PASTORAL MINSISTERY TILL IT IS LITERALLY FALLING TO PIECES. I RECCOMEND THIS BOOK TO ALL MY PASTOR ASSOCIATES AND LAYMEN ALIKE. DR. BAXTER WILL TAKE YOU AS DEEP INTO THE RICHES OF GODS WORD AS ANY WOULD DARE TO GO. WHEN ONE READS ANYTHING BY THIS GREAT MAN OF GOD, ITS LIKE A CAT DROWNING IN CREAM!

This book is a must for pastors and teachers. I've learn more about the way the bible is constructed in no time.

Baxter's Explore the Book can be likened to a treasure map. The Bible is full of gems, a veritable (and verifiable) treasure trove of insight, information, encouragement, and direction, all given under the inspiration of God. At times, though, the underlying message can seem hard to find, or to fully understand when it is discovered. This is where the value of Explore the Book comes in-it is the map to help the reader discover the treasure of God's Word in its fullness.

Explore the Book is actually a complete Bible survey course in one (rather large but comprehensive) volume. Each book of the Bible is given an overview including analysis, a synopsis, and the special features of each. More importantly, however, are the practical applications of the meaning and of the message in each book of the Bible.

Even readers without any background in Bible study will find Explore the Book greatly interesting and helpful, as will those more experienced students of Scripture (including pastors and teachers). This book leads the reader/student to a deeper awareness and appreciation of the grand themes of the Word of God, from Genesis through Revelation.
