Work well and seem durable though.

Also, the high side of the lighting wasn't nearly as bright for the brake lights as the incandescents they replaced .

I'm not even going to bother sending them back because it will cost me more in time and gas.

These lights are AWESOME. I have been using them for 1 month and have not had any trouble at all. They are much brighter than my incandescent light bulbs in both the driving circuit and the braking circuit. Moreover, they have the best flood/spread of light that I have seen compared to other LED bulbs. SMD-type LED bulbs are the real deal folks, I strongly recommend waiting until you can afford these more expensive SMD bulbs because you will not be satisfied and will eventually put your incandescent light bulbs back in if you buy lower performing bulbs. I would give these bulbs 7 or 8 stars if I could. I recommend these bulbs to anyone who wants to switch over to bright, reliable, and great light spreading/flooding LED bulbs.

I have compared 3 different LEDs and here is my report:
"1157 Bay15D 18 SMD 5050" (Amazon item B004C8L1AE) I give this a 10 out of 10 for the driving light circuit, 9 out of 10 for the brake light circuit, and 10 out of 10 for flood/spread. This is by far my favorite light I've used. It is more pricy but it has the best performance. Both circuits are brighter than my original incandescent light bulb and it has EXCELLENT flood/spread of the light.
"1157 RED 48 LED Light" (Amazon item B002SD8BMQ) I give this a 7 out of 10 for the driving light circuit, a 10 out of 10 for the brake light circuit, and a 8 out of 10 for flood/spread. This is a great product but just as others have reported, they do not last long and many LEDs begin to stop working. Within 1 week the driving circuit of 1 of my bulbs stopped working, so I was at risk of getting a ticket for a missing tail light.

This LED bulb is great for those who have a see through, transparent non colored stop light, because the natural light color of this bulb is red, so a stop light lens in red color is not required. My car has the stop light lens in red color but it still perform really good in terms of brightness and also it distributes the light more evenly through all of the stop lens housing, compared to the stock incandecent bulb. Another very good thing about LED bulbs, is that they don't get very hot as the incandecent bulb and also it draws much less current. This LED bulb has 18 big SMD Leds, and it out performs in brightness those crappy LED bulbs that come with a bunch, like 48 little LED's which would do nothing but start to burn out, one by one, and that like I said, this type of bulbs with less number of led's but bigger ones, on personal experience, will last longer and are much brighter. Highly recomend it !

I have switched the bulbs in my motorcycle to LED's and the difference is amazing...

These "tower" bulbs hit the sweet-spot of my tail-light housing reflector and produce twice the perceived light output as my standard incandescent lamps... and at only 1-3W of power power usage, compared to the old bulb's 8-23W.

If you have red or clear reflectors on your tail-lights, you must replace your incandescent bulbs with RED LEDs, as they will be brighter than white LEDs by the nature of light wavelengths and restrictions of the colored plastics.

SMD LEDs are the future of LEDs... they burn brighter, last longer, and run cooler. If you are thinking about trying LEDs, just be aware that you will need to install a solid-state flasher to prevent "hyper-flash" on your turn signals, and if your bike/car/truck has a load sensor to trigger a dash light that you have a "burned out bulb"... installing LEDs will trigger that warning light. On a bike... the solution is easy... just pull the warning lamp :) On a car/truck, you may want to invest in a 25-50 Ohm resistor pack (load balancer) to trick the warning light into thinking the bulb is an incandescent. The drawback to load balancers, are they get hot, and waste as much energy (or more) than the original incandescent bulb... so you gain brightness, but loose power availability, which is critical on a motorcycle.

Vehicle tested: 1996 Mazda Miata. Your results may vary, depending on the shape of your bulb housings, reflectors, diffusers, etc.

PRO:
-Very red.
-Fits intended socket.
-As a tail light, works as intended.

CON:
-Does not get much brighter when brakes are applied, not enough of a difference to be safely used.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

I would not recommend these bulbs at this time.
My wife and I installed these (1157 Bay15D 18 SMD 5050 LED STOP BRAKE TAIL LIGHT BULBS 12V-RED) LED bulbs on our travel trailer. We noticed these bulbs did not fit in the socket nearly as well as the incandescent bulbs we were replacing. We thought we would give the bulbs a try anyway because, after all, they were supposed to be long lasting and we did not want to waste our money by not using the LED bulbs we just purchased.
After installation,we could immediately see these LED bulbs were not nearly as bright as the incandescent bulbs had been. Actually, there was only a minimal (but probably legal) difference in light intensity when the brake/turn signals were activated while the parking lights were on. We had hoped these bulbs would be bright so drivers behind us would not run over us when we were braking or turning.
With the new bulbs installed, we pulled the trailer about 150 miles and parked for three days. When we checked the lights for the return trip, we saw one of the bulbs had lost its parking light capabilities. We replaced both of these LED bulbs with the very same incandescent bulbs we had replaced a few days earlier and came home.
We paid $5.99 for the bulbs with free shipping through Amazon Prime. I filed for a return to the seller through Amazon.com. The seller authorized a return to China but we must pay the return shipping which is a minimum of $6.16. A 17 cent loss on our part not including the packaging costs and fuel to go to the post office.
Since our bayonet sockets are at a right angle to the roadway, bright LED bulbs that shine 360 degrees but cost less than $50 a set are hard to find. We are going to wait until the quality to cost of LED parking/stop lights levels out some prior to trying to replace our incandescent bulbs again.
