When you try to unscrew the bulb the extension pole loosens.

This worked as advertised, allowing us to safely change the light bulbs over the stairs without trying to balance a ladder in a precarious position to do the job.

I was tired of always getting out a ladder to change a light bulb and this is by far the best.

I bought this to change the flood lights that are over 13 ft high outside the house. Changing them has always been difficult, and one I have not been able to get to because its over a bed with hedge underneath making it impossible to use a conventional ladder.

I had seen the Bayco product at a store, and dismissed it as a gimmick thinking that anything that costs as little as what it does is probably useless for the larger flood lights.

I went ahead it purchased this last week despite my doubts, opened it, added the right attachment waiting to find that it will fail (sorry, been burned by too many cheap products that I have sent back to the retailer) and won't rotate the existing bulb in.

To my surprise, it generated sufficient torque and the grip provided the right control to remove the old bulb and change it and put a new one.

I ended up replacing all my flood lights with the new longer lasting energy saver type that lasts 8,000 hours. I will unlikely be replacing my flood lights again in the future (because of the long life) , so the device is probably now going to be used more for cleaning fans (it has an attachment for that).

This Bayco light bulb changing kit is not particularly well-made (cheap plastic parts, powder coated metal [which will rust if nicked to expose the metal], threads made of soft plastic), & to fasten any particular bulb changer attachment to the pole, you need to tighten a cheaply made metal screw into plastic (the screw wobbles & is hard to grasp). Also, the part of the changer that's supposed to grasp the bulb is made of smooth plastic, which does not do a good job of providing the friction needed to turn the bulb (rubber would have been a much better choice for this area). But what it has that no other kit has is a floodlight bulb changer that is NOT the suction type; it's the "surround & clasp" type that is common to incandescent bulb changers (but is a wider diameter). The advantage to this is that the suction type bulb changer often does not work if the bulb has dust or dirt on it. And after all, you're using this device to change bulbs that are in hard to reach places, which also makes it likely that you can't very well dust a high placed bulb (& if you live in a high humidity area, even a day's worth of dust quickly becomes caked onto the surface of the bulb). Outdoor bulbs become even dirtier, due to rain, dirt, & sap, & then they can't be grasped tightly by a suction type bulb changer. So this does work in cases where the suction type of bulb changer doesn't work. I'd give it 5* if it were better made, or less expensive.

I was to the point where I would rather go without light rather than drag the ladder inside again. Ladders are like mothers-in-law. They should remain in the garage at all times.

This light bulb changing kit comes with lots of attachments. There are two for removing broken bulbs, one suction cup for recessed lighting, one small and one large spring style for all other bulbs. The suction cup attachment works great. It holds the bulbs securely and has a string you pull to release the suction once the new bulb is screwed in. The pole is heavy duty feeling and extends easily with just a twist to unlock it. No regrets on this purchase!

Now if I can just keep the mother-in-law off the ladder...

We finally have the bulb replaced on an impossible to reach outdoor fixture. Now a ladder and this perfect tool allow us to change the bulb whenever it is necessary without climbing on the roof of the building. We heartily recommend it. It's a great product and the seller provides quick and easy service.

We have 17 foot ceilings in our house. We have slanting ceilings and there is a particularly difficult bulb to replace that a ladder didn't help us with. With this product we could remove the dead bulb and replace it with a new one in under 30 seconds. That's really all we wanted. :)

Excellent for dusting also. Just screw on a dusting head and you and dust corners of really high ceilings. I have had my own cleaning business for four years now and I really like to use this. However, I do not like the large light bulb changer IT WILL GET STUCK inside recessed lighting and pull down everything!! Throw that part away and use the suction cup. Trust me the suction cup will work.

OK, so maybe I'm not the most mechanically adept person, but replacing a lightbulb? Surely I should be up to the challenge. But here's the trouble. 14 foot ceiling. Track lighting that consists of two hanging box-like fixtures that take medium size spotlights - the kind that are shaped sort of like round headed mushrooms. Neither of the the fixtures had bulbs in them. There are no instructions on or in the package, other than a direction to tighten the top portion before proceeding. So I tucked the bulb inside the stretching wire ring in the changer, wondering how it could possibly be released; positioned the whole works into the socket, turned and voila, the bulb is in place. Then, I pulled, twisted, angled, cajoled, swore and otherwise did everything I could think of to get the changer to unloose its grip, all without success. It was worse than I'd feared. The entire fixture was in jeopardy of being pulled down. Still the darn thing held on with its death grip. I decided to heck with it, I'll just unscrew it again and regroup. That's when I discovered how important that note about tightening the pole section was. All my efforts to release the changer from the bulb had evidently loosened the pole section. Presently, the light changer and pole are hanging from the light fixture in the middle of my living room, where they shall remain until tomorrow when I go and buy a step ladder to disengage the miserable thing. Is there some arcane secret associated to getting this changer that will induce it to let go of a light bulb? For the life of me, once that changer's little wire ring has a death grip on a light bulb, I don't see how it's possible to tug it down without potentially bringing down the light fixture on your head, and possible part of the ceiling with it.
