I bought this to change the flood lights that are over 13 ft high outside the house. Changing them has always been difficult, and one I have not been able to get to because its over a bed with hedge underneath making it impossible to use a conventional ladder.

I had seen the Bayco product at a store, and dismissed it as a gimmick thinking that anything that costs as little as what it does is probably useless for the larger flood lights.

I went ahead it purchased this last week despite my doubts, opened it, added the right attachment waiting to find that it will fail (sorry, been burned by too many cheap products that I have sent back to the retailer) and won't rotate the existing bulb in.

To my surprise, it generated sufficient torque and the grip provided the right control to remove the old bulb and change it and put a new one.

I ended up replacing all my flood lights with the new longer lasting energy saver type that lasts 8,000 hours. I will unlikely be replacing my flood lights again in the future (because of the long life) , so the device is probably now going to be used more for cleaning fans (it has an attachment for that).

This Bayco light bulb changing kit is not particularly well-made (cheap plastic parts, powder coated metal [which will rust if nicked to expose the metal], threads made of soft plastic), & to fasten any particular bulb changer attachment to the pole, you need to tighten a cheaply made metal screw into plastic (the screw wobbles & is hard to grasp). Also, the part of the changer that's supposed to grasp the bulb is made of smooth plastic, which does not do a good job of providing the friction needed to turn the bulb (rubber would have been a much better choice for this area). But what it has that no other kit has is a floodlight bulb changer that is NOT the suction type; it's the "surround & clasp" type that is common to incandescent bulb changers (but is a wider diameter). The advantage to this is that the suction type bulb changer often does not work if the bulb has dust or dirt on it. And after all, you're using this device to change bulbs that are in hard to reach places, which also makes it likely that you can't very well dust a high placed bulb (& if you live in a high humidity area, even a day's worth of dust quickly becomes caked onto the surface of the bulb). Outdoor bulbs become even dirtier, due to rain, dirt, & sap, & then they can't be grasped tightly by a suction type bulb changer. So this does work in cases where the suction type of bulb changer doesn't work. I'd give it 5* if it were better made, or less expensive.

We finally have the bulb replaced on an impossible to reach outdoor fixture. Now a ladder and this perfect tool allow us to change the bulb whenever it is necessary without climbing on the roof of the building. We heartily recommend it. It's a great product and the seller provides quick and easy service.
