On my unit anyway, the flashlight portion is quite poor. The 36 LED area light is excellent - nice and bright with a pure white light. But the single LED flashlight is poorly focused, if at all. It's more of a floodlight which makes is useless since the 36 LED area light already has the flood thing covered. The single LED is also of low quality throwing a off-color light.

So I love the area light, but don't really use the flashlight at all. If it was a good quality that lived up to the lumens advertised, I'd give this product 5 stars.

This is a very nice and versatile light. There are times when I need to cast a more diffuse light in an area (such as reading serial numbers off equipment in dark closets). The spot light from a normal flashlight makes this more difficult as they will often cause harsh reflections on the serial number plate. The diffuse light from the area light on this flashlight makes this task much easier and quicker.
One thing I wish it had was the ability to turn on just the area light,or just the spot light, without cycling through the combinations. The larger Bayco flashlight for mechanics has this feature. Still, for what it costs, this is a good value.
