Didn't do much for stopping the Bermuda grass.

For those interested, this is the same as if sprayed with Round-up (even Round-Up won't kill this stuff!).

I want this stuff dead and I will be using tried and true roundup and start over seeding soon.

Have used a lot of this product to kill bermudagrass that was rampant throughout my yard (3/4 acre) and all the neighbors. This chemical did not kill bermuda, only slightly controlled it - very disappointing after spending more than $200 over one summer for multiple treatments. Per web research from Bayer, it requires monthly spraying for 2-3 years to finally acheive "control" (it only attacks the visible stolons, not the underground rhizomes) - it does not claim to kill the Burmuda. This was very expensive and the bermuda would return in other areas and was just as bad next year. For those interested, this is the same as if sprayed with Round-up (even Round-Up won't kill this stuff!).

Found Ornamec "Over-The Top" from PBI/Gordon, and sold in a large size at [...] (the gallon size is cheapest if you have friends with the same problem). Given its performance, it is hands down the cheapest in the end and one gallon will do ~20 lawns my size. Ornamec will kill the entire Bermudagrass plant. It kills the visible stolon and also transports through the rhizome, killing it as it tranports to new to new growth areas. One treatment in spring, one in fall, and then only spot treatments as needed. Only 1 oz per gallon is needed, so my entire neighborhood chipped in for a gallon. This worked great, as once my neighbors treated the Bermudagrass was gone and not sneaking in from other lawns. (Note instructions to add surfactant - Dawn dish detergent works well - to help improve wetability.)

Check the active ingredient in Ornamec (fluazifop-p-butyl) and in the Bayer spray (fenoxaprop-p-ethyl) and research them on-line - the Ornamec is the way to go.

I have a 25' x 40' area that was pretty
infected with bermuda grass. I sprayed in
early Fall, and within days the bermuda grass
browned up. Per the instructions, I will need
to again spray in early Spring to get any
remaining bermuda grass. I have enough remaining
in the container to do the 2nd spraying.

The spray bottle itself was very easy to use,
you just hook up a hose to it. There's no
mixing or anything like that.

This product worked, was easy to use, and is
more affordable than other competing products.

Update: My first usage was effective, but the
bermuda grass has still been returning. Since my
first purchase, I have applied in late Fall,
early Spring, and now a couple of times this
Summer. The last couple of times, during hot,
peak Summer, have not seemed to have had much
effect. I think I am going to switch to
something more powerful.

I guess I'm a little puzzled by the results that others are getting with this product. Bottom line, this stuff DOES KILL bermudagrass...but it takes a least a week before you will start to see any results.

I had several patches of bermudagrass trying to establish itself in my yard. I have common ground next to my property, and I suspect that the mowing company hired by my subdivision carried in the seed on their commercial mowers. The stuff spread into my yard and was getting out of hand until I found this Bayer product offered by Amazon.

The trick is to spray the affected areas (making sure the grass is thoroughly wetted), and then wait a week or so to see how well you sprayed it. After the week or so, the bermudagrass will start turning brown. Hit it again with this Bayer product...bermudagrass is very tough to control. The hotter the weather gets, the faster this stuff grows. Add some rain or a sprinkler, and it will spread like crazy. My yard is a mixture of bluegrass and fescue, and the bermudagrass sends out runners through the other grass. These will root, and if you just spray the easily visible plant, you may not be getting the runners. So make sure you spray a larger area. This product has never fazed my bluegrass/fescue mix lawn, even in the hottest temperatures (and I have used this product for at least four years). It just kills the bermudagrass.

My results speak for themselves...I have eradicated this pesky bermudagrass on my property, and am attacking the adjacent common ground to keep the stuff out of my yard.

Another important point is that you won't kill it out in one season; you have to keep at it for at least a few years. Anyone that has really tried to eliminate crabgrass or weeds in their lawn knows this. I just placed an order for more of this product; it may be a little pricey but it does work.

I've tried everything for killing bermuda grass. This product is not available in my local Lowes, Home Depot or Orchard Supply. So I ordered it online and was skeptical about it's claims. But it actually worked. It killed only the bermuda grass and left the fescue alone.

After reading all of the reviews and trying it myself, I have come to the conclusion that the hose end sprayer is the actual problem and causes the extremely varied results. I bought 6 bottles, each one ran out at a different rate. Some very quickly and some never ran out. These hose end sprayers that come with the product already in them are cheap and either break or do not give consistent results. So I am pouring the product into a dial a sprayer. But there is no way to tell what to set the dial at. I called Bayer and they said it was a trade secret and would not tell me. I also told them how awful the hose end sprayers were they supplied us all with.
I am going to start experimenting with different settings. 1oz/gal seems way too high but 2tsp/gal seems to lite. I will let you all know what I figure out.
