5.0 out of 5 stars nice book of example of how real problems in biostatistics are handled by the Bayesian approach, May 30, 2008
This review is from: Bayesian Biostatistics (Statistics: A Series of Textbooks and Monographs) (Hardcover)
Don Berry is a Professor of Statistics at the MD Anderson School of Medicine and Cancer Research Center at the Univerity of Texas in Houston and a strong advocate of the Bayesian approach in clinical trials and other medical and biostatistical applications. He has written elementary and advanced texts on Bayesian methods and is eloquent both as a speaker and author.

As editor of this book he has assembled a fine collection of articles that clearly demonstrate the practical value of the Bayesian approach to a wide variety of medical and other biological problems.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pricey, but quicker than collecting articles by yourself, April 4, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Bayesian Biostatistics (Statistics: A Series of Textbooks and Monographs) (Hardcover)
Perhaps more appropriately titled _Examples in Bayesian Biostatistics_, this book is organized as a series of articles on the use of Bayesian methods in a variety of biostatistical settings. The benefit of this approach is that each article is written by experts who provide their own insights to the methodology presented. The downside is that each article is written by experts, who use slightly different notation, and exhibit varying degrees of ability to communicate their results (they are on the whole fairly good).
