Book Description

The fight continues in the Wildlands. Facing extinction, the Pantera have been given a miracle. A child. The first one in over fifty years. But even as they prepare to celebrate, the enemy strikes, putting at risk the fragile female who carries the hope of their people.

Charming, drop-dead gorgeous Hunter Bayon is thirsting for revenge on the enemies who slipped into the Wildlands and attacked Ashe and her vulnerable child. Pledging to track down the cowards, Bayon goes on the hunt, pursuing the humans to a nearby town. But searching their shabby hideaway, he makes a discovery that shocks him to his very soul and might very well destroy the heart of the Pantera.

Tattooed and pierced, sexy Nurturer Jean-Baptiste has been living in utter isolation. His cat is out of control, and the only thing that soothes the beast is a rare mineral he keeps inking into his skin. Until he meets her: Genevieve Burel. The beautiful and buttoned-up female puma is unlike anyone he's ever met. She makes his cat purr, and he knows he must possess her, mate with her. But the secret she's keeping might threaten not only their unbridled passion for one another, but the very future of the Pantera race.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great second installment! April 12, 2013
By Marie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Two of my favorite authors have done it again! This newest installment in the Bayou Heat series, where a secret race of puma shifters are living in a Louisiana bayou and battling extinction, picks up exactly where the last two left off and it is hot! Bayon and Jean-Baptiste are two very different shifters (one a Hunter, the other a Nurturer) but they're both very alpha and both fall hard for their females.

If you haven't read the first Bayou Heat books (Raphael and Parish) I will be mentioning things from there that might be considered spoilers so don't read any further.

Possible spoiler have been warned.

This installment starts with Bayon on a mission hunting whoever hurt Ashe at the end of Raphael/Parish. What he finds, however, is the woman who stole his heart a long time ago. She's in captivity and under the influence of drugs, which made it impossible for her escape. (Not saying who it is because I don't want to give away a spoiler.) Bayon's story is really sweet as the two of them find their footing with each other again. The romance and sensuality is really high and while he's super alpha, so is she. This heroine has no problem holding her own against the dominating Bayon. I really enjoyed reading about them as a couple and the problems he helped her work through. And while Bayon is rough around the edges, he is such a sweetheart with her. I just loved reading their banter.

Now, Jean-Baptiste...oh what to say about this delicious hero. He's a Nurturer who is suffering in silence about an affliction. He can't control his cat, even outside the Bayou and that is bad news. So he's been getting tattoos and piercings with a special metal that helps control him. But then he meets Genevieve Burel, or `Miss Burel' as he likes to call her.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better... April 29, 2013
By VivLa
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Bayon: This story started off with a bang. Kiera was a prisoner in a cage for many years trying to keep her sanity. Having her mate find her; the story could have exploded. But instead it went downhill from there. I think it's the fact that they knew each other in the past, but never mated. If this is your true mate, I don't think a dominant male would let that happen. He would not let her insecurities keep them apart. So I really didn't feel the deep connection between the two. Also, I don't remember Bayon expressing potential mate grief at Kiera's demise in Parish's story. Kiera is Parish's long lost sister, assumed to be dead. For all the suffering and pain Parish showed in his story for his sister, their reunion was normal; Almost like she was just away for a couple of months instead of twenty five years and presumed dead.

Jean-Baptiste: I was excited to read this story. I liked Jean-Baptiste's bad personality and hoped he'd find a mate to tame or soften him. Unfortunately, I didn't care for him in this story. I thought he was an a**hole to Genevieve. He was always hurting her feelings with his words and in turn she acted weak and mousy.

All in all, I give the stories an OK. After reading the first Bayou Heat series, I was looking forward to this one, but it was disappointing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great continuation April 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
You HAVE TO start with the first book! Otherwise this will be kind of difficult to follow, at least the overarching story will be.

That said, on to the review. Bayon was a lovely story with a couple that has history. It was also fascinating how they come back together, it felt a bit rushed and I would have liked to delve a bit more into their relationship and her healing. Such is the nature of a short story. Jean-Baptiste was a great story. Again I want to know how certain things worked but there was not enough time to get into the nitty gritty. The chemistry this couple has is very well expressed.

The plot that ties all do these together is moving forward well. There is more mystery and some answer, though not very many. I am very interested in how it will all play out. Who is the bad guy? How did they get into the Wildlands? Will Ashe and the baby be okay? Will the Pantera stop the super evil lady and regain their magic?

The good: well written characters, enjoyable couplings, nice mysteries, good world building that flows nicely between the authors.

The bad: not enough time! That is my personal thing with short stories though. I want to know the ins and outs of everything.

Why should you pick it up? Because there are sexy shifters that love their ladies and mystery to boot!

4.0 out of 5 stars Oh those lovely Pantera......keep them coming!! April 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Another awesome installment in the series. These characters really just jump off the page and suck you in! I like that each story flows right into the next installment, keeping things fresh in your mind. And of course the Pantera men are very drool worthy. Again I must say these stories could use about another 25 to 50 pages each to not feel so rushed, but don't let that deter you the stories are grand!
I can't imagine it would be easy for 2 authors to come together and create a series that flows so wonderfully. Bravo ladies anxiously await the next installment.
I did notice while reading Bayon's story I have come across a huge error in character building, in Parish's story Ines tells Julia that Parish had a twin sister named Keira but that she died.....In Bayon's story Keira states in a thought how Keira adored her younger brother from the moment their mother had placed him in her arms. I am quite shocked that the authors and the editors would not have caught this discrepancy.
But with all said I am eager for many more of these books to come out, I can see this series going on for oh lets say another 8 to 10 books!!! Hint Hint Ms. Ivy and Ms. Wright!!! :)
