5.0 out of 5 stars Bare-bones, but durable and works amazingly well!
I am very happy with this vertical roaster. I've used it dozens of times, and throw it in the dishwasher when I'm done - not even one rust spot.

The accompanying recipe also gets an A+ - I've had several requests for the recipe. It's almost impossible to ruin a bird cooked this way. Even if you overcook, it will still be moist because of the inner steam...

I am very happy with this vertical roaster. I've used it dozens of times, and throw it in the dishwasher when I'm done - not even one rust spot.

The accompanying recipe also gets an A+ - I've had several requests for the recipe. It's almost impossible to ruin a bird cooked this way. Even if you overcook, it will still be moist because of the inner steam.

However, it doesn't come with a cup, so you have to either find a glass that fits or use a can. I don't like the idea of superheated aluminum and paint, so luckily I have a glass that fits perfectly.

I use mine in the oven, not the BBQ, though I'm sure it would work well there also. It fits in a pie pan, and I use a glass one. If you don't have a pie pan, you may want to consider buying a roaster which comes with its own pan.

I still give it 5 stars because for what you get, it works beautifully!

5.0 out of 5 stars The right tool for the job, May 7, 2007

I've tried different style can holders but this is simply the best can holder for beer can chicken. Quality designed at a low price. It adds just the right balance for chickens up to 8 lbs. (Use a 16 oz tall boy for birds 6 lbs and up). It's small profile doesn't add much width to the can so birds fit nicely. I found higher priced fancy designed holders don't do any better job than this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gadget!!!, December 26, 2008

Great gadget!!! No more wobbly chicken on soda/beer cans!! I've toppled many whole chickens (hot ones.... ouch, scorched by hand) before purchasing this chicken stand. It drains the grease AWAY from the chicken. Some save the accumalated grease on the bottom for gravy....not me though.. I'm not a southerner and too many calories in gravy for me.
NOTE: YOU CAN ROAST THE CHICKEN WITHOUT THE CAN AND STILL TASTES GREAT!!
I made a slow cooked sticky chicken that was baked at 250 for fours hours and then roasted at 375 for 30 minutes and its was falling off the bone.
GO buy one of these now!!

5.0 out of 5 stars loved it!, January 7, 2007

I have been wanting to try Beer Can Chicken for awhile and my parents just happen to have one of these from a impulse purchase awhile back unused. So I got a chicken, got some rub, popped open a cold one and went to work. The stand is a much more stable way of cooking the chicken than just having the can hold up the way. The result was one of the most moist chickens I have ever eaten! I recommend this!

I've gone through a couple of beer can chicken racks over the years. I've had some folding ones that I liked, but they were very fragile.

This rack is designed simply--nothing fancy and not expensive. It holds the can and props up the bird. That's what it's supposed to do. The rest is up to you.

Nice rack!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great - I bought 2, September 1, 2009

This Beercan ChickCan rack works great. I was cooking beercan chicken for years and if you bump the grill the chicken tips over and the beer spills out.
With this rack the cooking process is much easier.
Just insert the 1/2 can of beer or wine into the rack then insert into the bird, set on the grill and you are set. Cook the chicken at medium heat (350-375 degrees) for one and a half hours and it will be the best chicken you have every had.
I have also bought seasoning from Amazon.

You cannot go wrong with this product.

This is a good simple product. Works well! However, it is overpriced, you can buy it at your local Wal Mart for under $5 bucks.

This is a great product; it's sturdy and makes the chicken far more stable on the grill, but I bought mine at Ace Hardware for around $5.

$34.38? I don't think so.

Beer Can Chicken is a great idea...taste great.

This is my second rack...first one was from Fox Run
[...]

This rack from Bayou Classic is very dingy looking compared to the one from Fox Run.
But the bigger disappointment is the size of the opening.
I bought a stainless steel tumbler to replace the beer can.

The openning in the Bayou Classic is just a hair more narrow which prevents the my stainless steel shaker from dropping thru to the bottom.

They both will hold a can, and they both are made from identical scetches.
But the fox run is better looking, better quality, and just a hair larger opening and maybe a dollar cheaper.

I have oe of each (Fox Run, and Bayou Classic) and if I order more for gifts, it will be the one from Fox Run.

"Winware Stainless Dredge 10 ounce" is the stainless steel container that will fit into the fox run rack but will NOT fit into this rack.

Sorry for the caps and the child-like title, but this rack really works! The directions say to use 1/4 to 1/2 can of beer, but I found it better to use 3/4 of beer and adding in some whiskey in the beer can for a smokier flavor. It does take a while to cook, so be prepared to be hungry.
