This review is a bit long.

I bought this item to use as a kettle for beer brewing. It's great for extract brewing or smaller all grain batches, but 5 gallon all-grain batches run a good risk of boil-over.

I have since put it to use as a general cooking pot and fryer, it works well both on a gas stove and a propane burner. Just be sure not to heat it without something inside it or it may melt. It conducts heat well with few hot spots and cleans easily.

Shipping left the pot with a few blemishes, the steaming rack they provided was packed inside the pot without anything padding to stop it from scraping the inside of the pot. It doesn't affect the taste of anything, it's just is doesn't look good. This causes me to remove one star.

Finally, if you do plan on buying this, be sure to boil a full batch of water inside it before you use it (as you should with any aluminum pot). This will build up an oxide layer and help you clean it before first use.

All together, it's a good item.

If you're looking for a cheap brewpot for 5 gallon all-grain brews, look no further. I've used this pot for almost 10 all grain sessions, and never had a problem. Another reviewer said it couldn't be used, this is simply not true. Yes, it's tight but I've never had a boilover. Again, for the money, it's a no-brainer.
