Better than I expected,

I was pleasantly surprised by this historical romance. Despite it being incredibly formulaic with the familiar tropes of 1. heroine on the run, 2. numerous misunderstandings between hero and heroine, 3. hero rescues heroine from the bad guy, and 4. they can't keep their hands off each other, even though they're not sure they even like/trust each other.
Our hero and heroine, Neilly and Damon were just so likable! I really rooted for them to just tell each other the truth and fall in love already! Also, great characterization on the supporting characters; more than one couple finds love in this book. The villains were menacing without being caricatures, and even though I figured out the 'culprit' quite soon into the book, I was satisfied with the suspenseful climactic revelation. Recommended for all romance fans. |
