What a disc!,
By
This review is from: Bayreuth 2 (Audio CD)
The second in a series of discs making reference in title to Wagner (the Festspielhaus in Bayreuth being the site of live performances of Wagner's Ring Cycle every summer), the music upon this disc is far more artfully done than its precursor (the aptly named Bayreuth Eins). Witt's musicwriting displays an impressive compositional richness that makes for an ironically extremely pleasant listening experience, even (or perhaps particularly) for an avowed devotee of grandly Romantic and neo-Romantic music such as myself. While the lyrics leave something in terms of content to be desired, the subject matter does not particularly detract from the music, nor does Witt spiral this time too deeply into dark, hyper-gothic thematics (as he indicated a prior proclivity for). This is, in sum, a surprisingly good disc...perhaps ideal as a change-of-pace, and certainly an album worth having in one's collection. Recommended.

Good CD!!,

this cd is very good and anyone that has Beyrueth Eins must have it, the whole output of the CD is a little softer than Eins though. Worth the money

Preferred Eins,
This review is from: Bayreuth 2 (Audio CD)
I was honestly quite disapointed with this album. But to be fair, it is only because I was attracted to the darker heavier beats of the first one. From a melodic point of view, this second album definitely overshines the first. It makes far more use of strings (violin, etc.), and even has chorus in a couple songs. Quite beautiful at times, though not what I was hoping for.
