5.0 out of 5 stars The summer of lost innocence. February 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The summer that Trey was twelve years old, he meet his new neighbor Eddy who was full of live and adventure. Eddy being a natural extrovert introduced Trey to many new experiences.

After one of their adventures, they are harassed by Mack Larson, a police office and respected member of a prominent family. Word soon gets out that Mack has everyone in town watching the boys and they decide to get even. As they witness a traffic stop in which Mack is threatening a young girl, the boys throw cherry bombs in Mack's car.

As things escalate between the boys and Mack, a young woman goes missing. Trey and Eddy soon realize it was the same person they saw with Mack and they were the last people to see her. They become concerned that maybe Mack has something to do with her disapperance. As they make their suspicions know to other people they face Mack head own and it is devastating. The town learns that Mack and his prominent family are not all that they seem to be and things will never be the same in Bay's End.

As Trey writes of that summer we feel all of motions that he has carried with him through the years as he comes to terms with that summer. This is a story of lost friendship and innocence and the healing that can finally take place so he can put the ghosts of the past to rest. As the reader, I become so engrossed in the story that it was a one sitting read. Quick and satisfying and sure to please readers who enjoy well written stories with interesting characters.

I did receive a copy of this complimentary copy of this book but with the promise of an honest review....good or bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gem that's Worth the Read! February 12, 2012

Bays End: A Gem that's Worth the Read

As a reader, I'm like most people in that I tend to gravitate toward intriguing titles. Normally, Bays End wouldn't get my attention, but since the author, Edward Lorn, took a liking to one of my eBooks, I decided to read his. I'm so glad I did!

Lorn took me on a ride that included some mystery, preadolescent characters that reminded me of my younger days, and horror that lingered in my mind long after I had read the book. Not only are the protagonists likeable, the horror that surrounds them may strike a chord that no reader should ignore. Lorn's smooth prose maintained my attention from cover to cover. One minute I'd laugh while another I'd get angry with the villains. His unique style is refreshing and all the while I read Bays End, I grinned, knowing that I had just found a gem of an author in a sea of new writers competing for readers.

Yes! Bays End is an excellent, yet sad story told by a gifted new voice. I'm looking forward to reading more from Edward Lorn. Count me in, Mr. Lorn, among your newest of fans!
