About the Author

The many facets of Jerry Silverman's musical background and experience have combined to make him one of this country's most prolific authors of music books. It was his research for his master's thesis in musicology (on blues guitar technique) at New York University that launched his musical literary career. Since the publication of his first book, Folk Blues, in 1958, he has had more than 100 titles published, including method books on all levels for guitar, banjo, fiddle, and recorder, as well as American and international songbooks with piano and guitar accompaniment. In addition, Mr. Silverman maintains an active teaching and performing schedule
