Awesome,
This review is from: Mel Bay's Master Anthology of Fiddle Solos, Vol. 1 (Paperback)
It is an awesome book. My son is 10 and he performs in a duo band called "Old Time Fiddle Kids" with my daughter for a few years. He found some tunes he liked right away and wouldn't stop playing. We like the choice of tunes and the arrangements of music. Even a simple tune like "Turkey in the Straw" can sound exciting with the special double -string version of arrangement. Too bad not every tune in the book is in the CDs. We have a lot of fiddle books, this is the best. It is not for beginners though because my son know almost 200 fiddle tunes and he is an advanced fiddler. It requires good note reading skill. If you plan to follow the CDs, you need to have extra good ear, because the masters play fast. But if you want to master fiddle, this is a book must get.

We love the variety of tunes and styles -- not just the same standard reportoire that's offered in most other books. It's chock full of different and unusual songs along with very well-written standards. The tunes are sized just right on the pages (not too small or too large), and the bios are excellent. Includes Ungar's "Lover's Waltz" and Molsky's "Bill Brown." Includes special tuning and mandolin Tabs if used and lists where the song is on CD.
