Book Description

Bay went from tortured human captive to exotic alien pet in a heartbeat. Zargonnii warrior mercenaries are like nothing she has ever seen before. What do they want from her? The unearthly world Bay is taken to is fascinating, frightening and a lot different from Earth. Zargonnii males have never seen a small, vulnerable female. Their females are huge, aggressive, dominant; and the two sexes live apart for safety reasons.

Zane finds himself saddled with a bald, unusual pet Earth female. Females are anything but vulnerable in his world. This female is an oddity, and for some reason, his new pet brings on his mating cycle. Zane is mortified, until he discovers this intelligent pet of his has a secret—she’s no pet at all. It takes everything in Zane’s power to control the temptation of his kind’s breeding habits—until he can control it no more.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed August 24, 2013
By Vanessa
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm so confused. I don't understand why there are so many good reviews for this book? Maybe I went into this with high expectations, but I was really disappointed. The story felt rushed and under-developed and the 'romance' was forced and it didn't come off as being organic in any way. For example, the two main characters just suddenly woke up one day and 'loved' each other - not exactly the type of romance story that I was looking for. I mean, I understand that this is light, easy, sci fi fluff, but I also like my books to show me the story rather than tell me the story...if that makes any sense? In addition to all that, there was a lot of info dumping. Also, the dialogue didn't sound very natural at times (I think because the author wanted to pack as much info as possible, so she made the characters have really awkward conversations that were loaded with info).

I really wanted to like this book since the premise was so promising, but I feel like it really missed the mark. I read a lot of books and I usually don't leave many reviews, but on the off chance that there are readers like me who like their sci fi romance/erotica to be well-rounded and fully developed, I wanted to write this for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Start of a New Series, Another Winner! June 1, 2013
By SaYa
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm blown away by this new series, I read all her New World books... this book introduced a new breed of species compatible to female humans. It's like a continuation of the New World books but with a fresh look, another world and of course a new alien to be compatible with. At first, I wasn't so keen on the alien looks ;) still preferred the Caspians but their strong looks and goodness just won me over. The book was developed enough for my taste, wasn't rushed or anything but you need to read the New World books (if you like Scifi/futuristic romance with good looking alien men thrown in) to have a good understanding of the background of the series. I love how the romance progressed, even with the alien's son and how Bay fell in love with father and son. There were also amusing parts in the story when they thought that she was a pet. Ending was simply a HEA. I am so looking forward to the next book, I hope it gets even better. Willing to wait LONGER for a well-developed fresh story. Worth the wait and money :)

5.0 out of 5 stars I want some more please! June 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Love the start of C.L. Scholey's new series. The start of this book while serious was HA-larious. I want to learn more about this world, now please. I am glad that Bay was not a whiny female even after everything that she has gone through. She just kept going and did not try to stupidly fight against the impossible but made it work for herself. Even having Zane be so very foreign in looks worked. (Kind of reminded me of the Zorns by Laurann Dohner in a weird way)

I wanted this book to be much longer as I have so many unanswered questions about the Zargonnii as a people. Do they have towns? Where do they grow their food? That is a very scary world to live on, do they have "safe" areas? Where do they build their space ships? I definitely want to know how Luna grows up.

Dear Author . . . . please write more, faster!

4.0 out of 5 stars Calling all Earth females...Yeti wants you! September 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I admit that crazy cover got me. I really like to read alien romances where the hero is less than normal looking and not comfortably humanoid in appearance, so this hero really delivered for me on that score: about seven feet tall, long white hair, glowing red eyes, a white unibrow(?), and white fur, yes, I said fur, on most of his body, and big ol' wide-spaced teeth, which means I had a hard time getting Sasquatch or Yeti out of my mind! But even so, I still liked this hero and appreciated how different he was. I also liked that he was protective and possessive, really wanting to claim and keep his little, fragile human with him. Zane is a mercenary/warrior, and would definitely kill for the heroine, but he really came across as a teddy bear with how gentle he was with Bay.

Certain aspects of the story reminded me of the Zorn series, with the alien men fascinated with human females (and the amazing sex to be had with those females!). I thought the premise of this story was cute, with the heroine mistaken as a pet, as some odd, never-seen-before animal to be scolded and fed and bathed. It was funny at times, this misunderstanding. Parts of the story made me smile or chuckle, and other parts were oddly sexy. Who knew a sort of Yeti-man could be sexy and sweet? The sex was good and steamy, and there is good reason for the instant sex, but I do wish there had been more time building the romance side of the relationship. It does lead to insta-love, but as it was, I enjoyed how the hero and heroine interacted. It felt sweet, and the hero could say some unintentionally funny and charming things.

The romance is light and easy-going, not complicated or super deep, but it was also fun and sexy for me. Like brain candy, and my mind liked it and wanted more of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars New series is unearthly June 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this book. I had previously purchased CL Sholey books by couldn't get in to them. Zane and Bay's story had me hooked from the beginning. I had often wondered why authors were so sure aliens would want to mate with human females, CL's take on this is hilarious. Comedic, entertaining, I could not put the book down. The story flowed, it was easy to get caught up in the characters, amusing to be thought of as just a pet....a puppy. Loved that the hero wasn't a Brad Pitt handsome type, it's great when an author puts much thought and detail into a new world. Aliens should be that -- alien, not just humans with additions, white fur, red eyes, black nailed seven footer --yeti cousins for sure.

Can't wait for more in this new series.
