4.0 out of 5 stars Great for first timers
Going through the book I find that this sequel is just as user friendly and easy to understand as the first book. The various amounts of illustrations and pictures make it much more easier to digest the concepts and ideas. One thing just bugs me, there is no index which would help me a lot with the book. All in all, this is a good book for people just starting Chinese...

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but too much marketing
The book is interesting, clear, and explains very well the principles of BaZi. But it has its flaws: too much marketing.

The book is very illustrated, and so it is beautiful, but I also felt that many of the illustrations made just to "let's make it more commercial" and at the same time "eating up" page after page, making a more diluted book. The table about...

5.0 out of 5 stars very informative, December 25, 2007

This book is a must-have for anyone seeking a deeper understanding in BaZi. It is the sequel to the first book, BaZi - The Destiny Code, and it elaborates further on the relationships between the 5 elements. If after reading the first book you still had difficulties interpreting a natal chart, as I did, then I would strongly recommend that you also read this book as it provides much more information on the various combinations, clashes, harms, destructions and punishments. Many real-life examples are used throughout the book and this has helped me a lot in understanding this conventionally complex subject.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but too much marketing, October 21, 2010

The book is interesting, clear, and explains very well the principles of BaZi. But it has its flaws: too much marketing.

The book is very illustrated, and so it is beautiful, but I also felt that many of the illustrations made just to "let's make it more commercial" and at the same time "eating up" page after page, making a more diluted book. The table about clashes, for example, is repeated time after time.

Joey Yap also has this thing that he is always talking about some technique that he will only teaches in his "next book". Usually this is not so important, but in the final part, with the "practical examples", this is very annoying. Joey Yap discusses the BaZi charts of Princess Diana and other celebrities. First of all, he almost doesn't use any of the techniques that he teaches on the book, like determining the strength of the day master! Then he delineates all of the charts only using the techniques that he didn't teach!

If it wasn't for that, I would give a 5. I think that is good to have a little marketing to help people want to buy your next book... but I wish he would be more subtle. His book on Date selection is much better, because he really deliver the goods and teaches you what he promised.

...don't waste your money on this one. It may very well be an excellent book, but it's practically useless without the first one. :/ No explanation of how to plot the charts, etc. Information went over a beginner's head, too, since I didn't have the benefit of the first volume's basics. Beautifully done, but, since I didn't see anything stating you need the first one as well, I thought I'd warn anyone else thinking this might be self-contained.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for further understanding of four pillars of destiny, March 30, 2009
This review is from: Bazi The Destiny Code Revealed - Delve Deeper into the Four Pillars of Destiny (Paperback)
A follow up based on the first book on four pillars of destiny by Joey Yap and this is a must have for anyone wanting to delve deeper into one's destiny.

Pacing and structure of the lessons contained within the book is very concise and clear. This makes anyone wanting to have a better understanding on how the destiny code works extremely easy.

Please take note that this book is a sequel to the first book entitled " Bazi the destiny code" and a must read for anyone wanting to control their own destiny. This second book gives the reader a better understanding and in-depth look into the complexities of the four pillars made easy via step by step explanations.

Compared to the other similar books on the topic of four pillars/destiny codes, this is a joy to read and easily understood. No mysticism or religious references, just plain facts and science. Very highly recommended.
