3.0 out of 5 stars Relatively small, tight bases
I spend quite some time trying to imagine the size of the woofer (as I am originally from Europe and am still struggling with the inch to cm conversion. I have Chrysler Crossfire, so wanted to be 'savy' with the space in the trunk, so I've opted at the end for the smaller 6 1/2' one. Well that was probably not the best choice. I have replaced my factory radio (Infinity)...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bass, smallest space, February 15, 2011

This review is from: Bazooka BTA6100 BT Series 6-Inch 100-Watt Amplified Tube Subwoofer (Electronics)
I have always wanted to give Bazooka tubes a try, so I finally took the plunge... and I'll never regret it.

First off, I drive a 2001 Chevy Silverado, regular cab that much needed a sound system upgrade. The original factory speakers, over the past 10 years, had all but fallen apart. After replacing them, I was pleased with the volume that came from the new speakers, but was let down that the music really had no "thump" to it.

Years ago in my youth, I had been a big-time car audio enthusiast. I have had loud, booming systems, but now, I really didn't want to go that overboard with it. Besides, the model truck I have does not leave a lot of room for woofers, especially since I used the space behind the seats for storage. But still, I wanted a better bass response in my music.

I began looking at the short list of options available and finally decided to try the 6.5" Bazooka powered sub. The other flat, fit-under-the-seat-type enclosures didn't seem to carry the same high-reviews and praise that I have always heard about with Bazooka. Believe me, everything I heard about Bazooka was justified and more.

Installation was very easy. If you can splice wires and drill a few holes, you can install this. The worse part was trying to wire the on/off power control to the factory radio. It took a little trial and error, but once that was done everything else was easy. Now that it is installed, mounted to the top of my jack cover, it is a breeze to remove if necessary - unlatch 2 mounting straps and disconnect the wiring harness and you can remove it.

When I fired it up, I found the sound simply amazing. I never in my life thought that a 6.5" speaker could hit such low, powerful bass notes. I tried everything from deep, slow bass to faster, punchier beats. Everything sounded better than expected. Outside the cab, even with the windows lowered the bass is barely noticeable. Nothing to impress, but sit inside - in either seat, the sound was awesome. My only problem is I think it is almost too powerful.

To sum it up: If you want bass-sound that travels out for everyone else to hear, this is not the speaker system for you. But if you are not worried about what people outside your vehicle think, and only who's in it, and if you want to feel and enjoy the bass in your music and have a small area to put it - Look no further. Bazooka has definitely earned a place in any of my future stereo set-ups. From ease of installation to awesome sound, Bazooka is 5 stars in my book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Powered Bazooka performance, January 15, 2007

Smooth, clean with good performance. I like all the bass frequencies at the level they were recorded, not ear shattering boom, boom at some and nothing at others. On some songs there are several different bass notes and this unit faithfully reproduces them. The level is very adequate for my Accord. The small size allows me to mount the Sub just in front of the driver's seat which gives good spacial (bass in front) sense. When someone shorter has to drive the car, I simply undo the straps move the Sub.

I installed this amplified bass tube in my 2009 Ford F-150 supercrew expecting to get a little more bass. I was totally suprised at the amount of bass and quality it produced. It fits perfectly under my rear seats and produces plenty of bass in the cabin without making everyone else outside my vehicle hear my music. It was easy to install and does a great job keeping up with quick bass notes that larger speaker have a hard time keeping up with. I also purchased the optional bazooka remote bass controller switch which is a must for adjusting the amount of bass for different types of music all from the drivers seat.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! This Thing Really Rocks my Van, February 14, 2011

This review is from: Bazooka BTA6100 BT Series 6-Inch 100-Watt Amplified Tube Subwoofer (Electronics)
I was worried that this small tube would not do enough to boost the low end bass in my 2011 Chevy full size conversion van with factory radio. Wow was I wrong. Installed it in the rear of the van pointed about 4 inches from the back door on the drivers side and all I can saw is wow, wow, wow. The sub's level control is barely turned up and the sound is more than adequate. Buy this thing now - you won't be sorry.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Sounding Sub, November 28, 2008

This 6" is my first amplified subwoofer. It lasted 4 years before I blew it off for playing too loud (I was feeding it more power than the spec could handle). It was in my Civic's trunk. It made all the difference in my car stereo. Sound is tighter than the 8" inch Bazooka that I replaced it with. Smooth sounding with no audible distortion.

Pros:
- Great sounding sub
- Minimal space
- Amplified

Cons:
- Need to tie it up to keep it from rolling

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised, May 10, 2011

This review is from: Bazooka BTA6100 BT Series 6-Inch 100-Watt Amplified Tube Subwoofer (Electronics)
I bought this just because my aftermarket stereo system was missing punch in the bass areas, and wanted to boost the bass without overpowering the music. I really wasn't expecting much volume out of a 6 inch sub since I have friends with 10's that don't deliver. I was dead wrong. If you want it to, this sub WILL rattle your windows. It delivers tons more bass than I could have imagined. The only thing I was disappointed about was the fact that Bazooka includes no mounting mechanisms except straps. The instructions tell you to strap it to something secure in the vehicle. I didn't know this, and there is no such point in my trunk, so I had to improvise. I attached industrial strength velcro to the straps and velcro-ed it to the carpeting in my trunk. What I'm saying is, have a plan on how you're going to attach this. Other that the mounting problem, I love it and would recommend it to anyone!

P.S. I know it sounds weird, but point the open end of the tube into a corner. It makes a HUGE improvement of the amount of sound that hits your ears. Happy listening!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable sound!, March 21, 2011

This subwoofer sounds amazing. 6" and 100 watts makes it sound like some sort of joke, but I have this in a hatch and I can't even keep it all full volume. It sounds just a deep as most 2x 12" sub setups I've heard, without the "my ears are bleeding" feeling. Seriously your friends won't believe you when they ride in your car. I can't imagine it working well in a trunk or anything though, would need to be in a hatch or somewhere where it doesn't have to pass through any barriers.

It hardly takes up any room, and it looks good with the chrome mounting rings. It's real nice having an integrated amp, one less thing to have in the back.

If your a sound guy, you will absolutely love this sub in your hatch as it hits every single note with no distortion. If your the guy who wants everyone around you to know you have a sub, look elsewhere as this is QUALITY sound not that overpowered crappy sounding garbage that shakes your car apart.

I just installed one of these in my daughter's New Beetle and while the bass could be adjusted to booming levels right out of the box there was a marked improvement in the sound of the factory stereo. It has a very full, rich sound now. My only reason for not giving it five stars is that it did not come with anything to mount it in the car so I had to fabricate my own mount.

Big things really do come in small packages. Perfect for fitting underneath a back seat in my Supercab F-150. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another !

I would give this 4 1/2 stars. It initially sounded muddy but after a few days it tightened up and sounds pretty crisp. I put this in my 2008 MINI Cooper Clubman. It fit in the cargo area under the lower cover, so it really didn't cut into cargo space at all. Though it is covered over, that doesn't seem to matter much. My wife said she had to turn down the Bass when she drove it because it hurt her ears. I don't really think you need the optional volume control up front if you have a bass control on the head unit. My bass has gone from non existent to where my rear view mirror shakes. It will not shock the neighbors, but inside the car it gets the job done!
