Oh Say Can You See . . ., October 29, 2003
This review is from: Bazooka (Audio CD)
The Star Spangles deliver timeless inspired rock and roll with gusto and sincerity, and if you are a fan of Iggy, The Dead Boys, The NY Dolls, early Replacements and Hanoi Rocks, they should be right up your alley ... Personally, I love the simple arrangements and great songwriting, and while I hesitate to throw comparisons around, The Star Spangles take me back to the nights I spent at Coney Island High in NYC ( a great, now closed rock/punk/glam club for all those outside the area ) soaking up the sounds of early glam, Buzzcocks and Sid ... Comparisons to Green Day are completely misguided ( ... to put it kindly ) : The Star Spangles are coming from a totally different place, and while there is room for everyone, The Stars Spangles come across more like a classic late 70's/early 80's nasty rock and roll band: Keith Richards would be proud ...

Great Rock-n-Roll!!!, July 21, 2004
This review is from: Bazooka (Audio CD)
Another reason to love NYC! They like the Stooges, Dolls, & Johnny Thunders? -Well so do I! I'm gushing over these guys cause theyre just what I've been in the mood for. Theyre playing buzzy, punky rock-n-roll and I'm totally enjoying it. I cant say they're the greatest ever, and who knows if the disc will hold up to repeated listenings over the months- but I will say that its a worthwhile investment and you should check it out. Best songs to me are "Burn This House", "L.A." and "Stay Away From Me". And as for their style-I'm glad to see a young band who got fashion right (unlike the Strokes). They got the sound AND the attitude. Personally, I think it must be very satisfying to be in this band.
