I have had this product for almost a year now, and I have had to remove it and resolder, repair the wires inside more than once. The sound quality is poor, the electronics are cheap and the mount vibrates! I am not an amateur with these types of repairs, and I purchased this as a quick and cost effective alternative to the Toyota box but I should have demanded my money back.

The pre-fab'd plate that fits into the molding wasn't drilled right. I had to re-drill 2 of the main 4 attacment points. The rig rattles pretty bad, but its an easy fix. If you browse the fjcruiser forum for the subwoofer rattle fix you'll find a great write up on how to add some self adheisive rubber around the edges. I strongly suggest doing this during the install.
Other than that, the sound quality is pretty good. I wasn't looking for the best bump in town and I like how the unit performs. Nice have a pre-wired install and no additional amp to worry about.

This sub is pretty decent. If you are looking to shake the car next to you this sub is not for you. If you are looking to add a little bump to your music, as I was, you will love this. The mounting plate is amazing, no rattles if you get some rubber weather stripping and stick that all the way around the contact points of the mounting plate and sub mount. Its literally a 2 minute process to put the rubber tape on and you will have absolutely no rattles -- do this during install. I went offroading and came back and still had no rattles on the deep low bass notes.

It is only a 100 watt amp built in, but is more than enough for what I was looking for. The connector had a loose pin from the get go is the only reason I gave this 4 stars. I was able to re-seat the pin and then everything was great! Have had it for a month now and no problems to note since fixing the pin on the connector during install. Had there been no wire issue it would have been 5*s.

As far as space that it takes up, I camped out in the back of the FJ a couple nights and it was not in the way with the seats folded down and all my fishing gear and bag of clothes in the back. It fits nicely above the wheelwell and does not protrude out into the usable space of the cabin.

If you think you want a sub but are on the fence, get this you will not be dissappointed.

Incredibly easy and simple installation and has great sound for only 150 dollars. One heck of a deal.

I just received my subwoofer for my FJ Cruiser and all I have to say is WOW! If you like a awesome low end to compliment the (8) factory installed speakers with easy installation, this is the kit for you. If your looking for a thumping bass that will rattle cars in the next lane, this is probably not what your looking for. I was in the market to find an after market subwoofer and highly recommend this kit. It came with every thing to install nicely, professionally, and most importantly, do what it was advertised to do....provide a nice low end to the music. I recommend referencing the following site to combat some of the chatter on blogs around it rattling during use. ([...]) - it contains some great tips and pictures of the process from start to end during installation. I had mine installed in less than 2 hours, and am still amazed how this filled in the lows that were missing (if you don't think they are missing, install this). The factory deck does great with controlling this subwoofer as it does contain its own amp while providing a gain control. I really have nothing bad to say and am very happy I purchased this kit. I can now listen to Jazz and other bass driven genres as they were meant to be heard! Enjoy
