4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting........ but there was something missing, June 9, 2002
I was really looking forward to reading this book because I had really enjoyed Love to Love You Baby. I thought reading about Jack's twin Tim would be hilarious. I was partitally correct. The beginning of Be my Baby Tonight started out promising I thought. But, because of the lies and deceptions between Suzanne and Tim, it got very muddled in the middle. There was no communication at all between them. It was like they were two totally seperate characters residing in one book. Tim managed to get better as the book went on. I found it hilarious how he went through the pregnancy symptons with Suzanne. Suzanne was a character I really did not like at all. She just was too... insecure, and mean too. She wasn't a very good heroine at all. The only reason I am really giving this book 4 stars is because I did enjoy reading about the characters that I had already met. Jack and Keely and Candy, and the new baby. Plus, the story of Margo the cat was cute too. I did think that the book got better right towards the end, but unfortunately the middle was something of a stumble for me. But, if you enjoyed Jack's story, I would recommend renting this at the library, or if you do buy it, buy it at a used bookstore.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3 1/2 stars, June 3, 2002
By A Customer
I couldn't wait to read this book after reading Jack's story. I enjoyed this book, but I really didn't like the female character at all. Okay so Suzanna was fat all through school and then she gets skinny and seduces her grade school/highschool crush and she has major issues with getting pregnant and fat. She hides so much from Tim, from the pregnancy to the fact that she is having twins etc.. I know he doiesn't tell her the main reason for marrying her but she needlessly tortures him throughout the book. I just found her vindictive and I really don't fell like either of the characters loved each other or that a marriage in the long run would work out between them. It was nice to see Keely, Jack, Aunt Sadie, Joey and Sweetness again though. This is a good read for those who read Jack's story and want to see what is going on with all of the other characters otherwise the book just has too much lying and boring fighting to be really great.

1.0 out of 5 stars "You know, Tim. .", September 20, 2006
I am currently trying to read this book. I am failing miserably. It's AWFUL. It's my first Kasey Michaels book and I was excited to read it. I love baseball, baseball players, and an unexpected pregnancy bringing a couple together. I also like a good plot, a well written story and realistic dialoug. This book has has none of the last three things.

It drags. It drags like you are pulling a semi truck up a hill at one of those strong man competitions. Only, you are not the strong man. I don't understand why Suzanna agreed to marry Tim. They don't seem compatible and I am not particulalry fond of them. But, I could get over that.

The thing that drives me absolutely NUTS about this book is THE DIALOUG. There is TOO MUCH TALKING. For example, Tim has a nightmare. The reader is told what the nightmare is while Tim is experiencing it. Then, Tim awakens and describes the nightmare to his roommate in painful detail that the reader was just given a few paragraphs ealier. It wasn't necessary. It added nothing. I got the picture the first time.

And if that weren't bad enough, the characters seriously, used the name of the person they were talking to EVERYTIME THEY SAID SOMETHING. For example, Tim and Suzanna are the only too people in the room. THE ONLY ONES. They are alone. And EVERYTIME one of them says something, they address it to the other. It would be like my husband and I were having dinner alone and I needed the salt. Were we talking as they do in the book, my husband would look at me and ask"Indigo, could you pass the salt?" and I would respond, "Why of course, Paul"

People DO NOT talk like that. And they don't just do it once either, it's EVERYTIME they talk. It's really obnoxious. The editor should have said something.
