How to Really Live by Faith

When the Book of Hebrews was penned, the ages were colliding and society seemed to be shaking. Hebrews was written to Christians who were wondering what was going on and what they could do about it. As the stability of the old was passing away, their faith was wavering.

One major message of Hebrews is BE CONFIDENT! God is shaking things so you might learn to live by faith and not by sight. He wants to build your life on the permanence of the eternal, not on the instability of the temporal.

Look to Jesus Christ and BE CONFIDENT!

Our ever-living High Priest in heaven is able to see us through our difficult and demanding days too. "The just shall live by faith!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritually Helpful, October 30, 2003

This review is from: Be Confident (Hebrews): Live by Faith, Not by Sight (The BE Series Commentary) (Paperback)
This is a study of the book of Hebrews. The chapters are taken in order and explained in an expository manner. Dr. Wiersbe reminds us that God is "working in us to accomplish His purposes." He elaborates by emphasizing that the One Who is working is "the God of providence who guided this universe to its divinely ordained destiny."

Key words are traced back to the original language in this study. For example, in Hebrews 2:10-13 where Jesus is described as being the Captain of salvation, we're told another word for Captain could be pioneer, as in one who opens the way for others to follow.

Jesus Christ is the theme of the book of Hebrews. This book explains the various parts of the book, such as Jesus being superior to angels, Moses, and Aaron. Consequently, Christians have a better covenant than the old one.

This is a well-researched book that is easy to read. It covers the book of Hebrews thoroughly. I strongly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Confident...Competent...Committed!, February 5, 2009

This is an easy-to-read commentary on my favorite book in the Bible. But, it is also one that will not let you off with just feeling good, "blessed," of better informed. It asks, no demands, you to apprehend the confidence we have in Christ, to move on to spiritual maturity to become competent in the Word, the promises of God, and their application and edification of the body of Christ. And, to be committed to persevering in your faith in Christ regardless. If their is one single message in Hebrews, it is that Christ is SUPERIOR to anything else and IN HIM we CAN overcome and become what God always meant us to be.

I found myself saying, "Amen" and "Praise the Lord" frequently while reading...most of the time out loud! And, my copy is now highlighted and marked with personal notes, questions for follow up, and little "Ah, Hahs!"

Buy this commentary. It will bless you significantly!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, meaty exposition of Hebrews, December 31, 2011

How do you write a relatively brief commentary on what is considered the most difficult book in the Bible? Only Warren Wiersbe could accomplish this and give a deeper understanding of this book in a one-volume, very readable exposition. I always like to read a couple of commentaries on any book of the Bible that I study. When I found we were going to cover Hebrews in only four weeks in my current study group, I immediately looked for Warren Wiersbe and found what I wanted in his "Be" series. Much more extensive works on Hebrews exist, but this met my need for the deeper insight I was looking for in a suscinct volume.
