If you remember and love the vocal stylings of Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, Lou Rawls,, Bill Withers, McCoy Tyner, just to name a few, sit back and enjoy because you are in for a treat! Top Shelf! Once you have listened, you will by EVERYTHING GREGORY PORTER HAS RECORDED. You have been warned......

Excuse the pun, but Gregory Porter's poetic lyrics and musical arrangements have the ability to brighten my day anytime I put this record on. I was never one for jazz or piano-laden tunes, but after listening to an interview with the artist on NPR and their clips from his music, I broke down and bought this. The music is very accessible, and I would highly recommend this to anyone I know.

I don't normally review music. Too subjective. But I love this album. Gregory Porter brings some smooth yet powerful vocals on many of the tracks. I like it so much I bought it on vinyl. It's my Sunday Morning Reading the Paper album now. Or one of them at least. Bravo, Greg. 8/10
