Penny Arcade is the absolute best.

If you are into the ironic fashion of reading hard copy versions of digital comics this book suits you fine.

Before I discuss book 7, we need to talk about book 6. I'll be honest, I was a little disappointed with book 6. I won't go into detail (if you want to go read reviews on book 6, they are pretty accurate), but the print quality and overall book design left a little to be desired. So I was a little apprehensive about ordering book 7 without reading some reviews first. But, being a long time Penny-Arcade fan since about 2000, I wanted to support Mike and Jerry's efforts regardless. So I purchased, hoping for the best.

When book 7 arrived, I was really excited to see the return to the quality that is present in books 1-5. The overall image quality has been increased, the silly fonts for the comic titles were nowhere to be seen, the odd placement of comic commentary on the opposite page of the comic was gone, the awkward white-space around single comic pages was replaced with watermarked characters. I would probably need to hold book 7 next to one of the first 5 to really be able to see the stylistic differences, if there are even any present. But overall, the sense of quality is present throughout the entire book.

If you are a fan of Penny-Arcade already, you probably don't need to read the rest of this review.

2006 was just a great year for the comics. There was a lot going on with the recent release of the Xbox 360 and the upcoming releases of the PS3 and Wii. Couple that with some awesome Cardboard Tube Samurai comics and the spectacular Armadeaddon Fanservice Extravaganze, and it's not hard to justify the 10 dollars.

Look, it's Penny Arcade. If you aren't clear on this, go to:

[...]

And read a few strips. If you don't like juvenlie humor, blood, gore, and occasional necrophilia jokes... don't buy this. If, however, you don't mind all that and want the best comic available about video games, video gamers, and their lives - written in a satirical bent - then DO buy this, and support these guys.

I started buying the Penny Arcade archive books because there were huge chunks of time when I stepped out of webcomics, gaming, and even snarky cartoons. Be Good, Little Puppy covers all of 2006 of the archives and has bonus material not seen on the website. If you are into the ironic fashion of reading hard copy versions of digital comics this book suits you fine.

I really do enjoy the books more than the site now. I've read all the comics before, but I don't remember them by the time the book comes out. The commentary is thoughtful and well-done, and there is something for every comic. It's real added value and not just a token feature.

I have been reading the Penny Arcade comic for about 7 years now. It was very exciting when I first heard that they were going to be offering a publication of their series. I have purchased every book since then, and will buy every book in the future as well.
