Already out of date. March 13, 2010
Format:Paperback
Already out of date. A lot of the free services he suggests are no longer free (some are if your internet savvy). After following his suggestions to the letter my site ceremoniously dropped on Google from page one, to page two, to page seven, all in one day. Great. I'd like to contact Jon Smith but his email is well hidden, or rather not put anywhere obvious. I paid money for your book. Now be available like David Pouge.

Short and Sweet January 25, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
It's a rather small book. Definitely not one of those bible reference books. However I don't have lots of time to read through deep explanations. Not all 52 tools (more like tips) are groundbreaking, but it's a great laundry list of things anyone can do to put you up higher on the totem pole. Quick and dirty tips without the lengthy references and historical context. I liked the book.

Invaluable Resource - December 9, 2009
Format:Paperback
Smith tells us that only 7% of Web sites employ any search engine optimization. Thus, those that do have an important advantage in competing for customers. His suggestions make good sense, are easily accomplished, and require only the investment of a bit of time. Suggestions include using a Yahoo site for identifying the popularity of specific keywords and related terms in Internet searches, a site (WordTracker) that gives information on the number of possible competitors using that keyword, the value of using a meta description, how to find out what competitors are using a meta words, using product/service-specific domain names, using Google Analytics to quantify the number of site visitors, what they're looking at, how long they stay, and the town they're searching from, laying out site pages, making it easy for site visitors to find what they're looking for - eg. use of an internal Google search took, etc. Smith also explains basic terms such as hits, page views, unique visitors, etc.

Quick read, not enough information
I purchased this book due to it's glowing reviews, I am disappointed. I did enjoy reading it as the author has a very funny sarcasm here and there, but it is too lite on details... Read more

no meat here
Nothing here. The big font size makes this the size of a magazine article, not a book. Big disappointment; waste of money.

OK not Great!
Easy to read. Some nice actionable ideas. Due to the layout of the book it does not provide an overall structure to guide activities. Read more
