Book Description

Happy Attitudes : Eight Positive Attitudes That Can Transform Your Life! August 1987
All of us want to be happy. Some people believe money will make them happy. Others decide they need fame. Still others think, if only they were in love, or had more friends, they would be happy. Yet we all know people who are wealthy, famous or popular, who still have plenty of problems, and who let those problems make them unhappy.

Drawing on the most famous section of the Sermon on the Mount, Dr. Robert Schuller reveals the eight positive mental attitudes that make real happiness possible for you. With insight and humor, he uses examples from the daily lives of real people to illustrate the practical, life-changing power behind the Beatitudes.

From the Publisher

Many seek happiness in wealth, fame, relationships, even drugs-and, of course, they fail. How CAN we be happy? In his most inspirational best-selling book to date, Dr. Robert H. Schuller, the spiritual host of the weekly telecast "The Hour of Power," probes the Beatitudes for the answer-and discovers eight universal positive mental attitudes that have been used for their healing value through the ages. Through them, you can make real happiness truly possible.

The Be (Happy) Attitudes

1) I Need Help-I Can't Do It Alone. Learn two miracle-working statements: "I need help" and "I am sorry."

2) I'm Really Hurting-But I Am Going To Bounce Back. Learn that when bad things happen to good people, they become better people.

3) I'm Going To Remain Cool, Calm, And Corrected. "Blessed are the Meek..." is a poor translation. "Meek" in the Bible means: mighty, stable. kind, 4)I Really Want To Do The Right Thing. Learn how to adopt a "Go for it" attitude toward your life and dreams.

5) I'm Going To Treat Others The Way I Want Them To Treat Me. Learn how to heal your hidden wounds, and allow them to turn you into a better person.

6) I've Got To Let The Faith Flow Free Through Me. Learn how to know God better and overcome doubt. Faith makes love a possibility. Love makes miracles happen.

7) I'm Going To Be A Bridge Builder. Learn how to make peace with yourself before becoming a peacemaker for others. Learn how to remain positive and pardon those who persecute you, even when all else fails. --This text refers to the Mass Market Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars ARE YOU A HAPPY PERSON, IF NOT READ THIS BOOK, July 18, 2000
We in the United States have so much to be happy about, but are we happy? Everytime i go over seas i come back humbled. You see a lot of the foreign countries have a lot of poor people. This being said, i find that some of the poorest countries have people with some of the happiest hearts. You see it doesn't take money or mataerial goods to be happy.

I think we need to do a self inspection about our attitudes and see if we can make some adjustments.

This book tells about how to change your way of thinking about attitudes. Like the title suggests "THE BE HAPPY ATTITUDES", i think we can and should change our attitude about life. Life is beautiful thing and i think we should be happy to be alive.

I WOULD LIKE TO STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Powerful Work, April 29, 2004
By
Dr. Schuller is a gifted communicator who helps you to see beyond assumptions. On perception, consider the quote in this book from Karl Menninger, "Attitudes are more important than facts!" Attitude relates to need. We are interdependent and being aware of that truth is liberating. In the body of Christ, we are gifted to contribute to others. In turn, we receive the benefits of other people's efforts on our behalf. Or as Dr. Schuller puts it, "...the deepest need of the human being is the need to be needed." We need to use our gifts. Our satisfaction comes from making a difference. Humility is admitting we need help.

In reading Dr. Schuller's works, including this one, there is a realization that here is a man who is writing from first hand experience. He so powerfully teaches on forgiveness that you just know only a person who has mastered that challenge can so eloquently address the issue. This is an encouraging look at the Beatitudes. One additional point worth pondering is that Dr. Schuller believes Jesus gave them as a logical progression. He believes that one is a stepping stone to the next one.
