Tom Marcoux' inspirational approach to excelling in today's turbulent marketplace will hit home to those seeking a new way to remain competitive. In "Be Heard and Be Trusted," Tom provides the insights readers need to move forward and live their best lives. He presents methods to hone personal and professional communications skills, and lays out his strategy for moving upward in the business world, from building a personal brand to leadership and negotiation skills, from securing a job to finding a new one. Tom evokes the wisdom of prominent business and cultural leaders to help illustrate his methods for achieving success. Readers frustrated by business-as-usual will discover a new angle that makes sense. To quote Tom: "Your best work is not the triumph of technique but the purity of purpose."

Tom is a fresh voice on the scene. Through his books and popular speaking engagements, new audiences are tapping into his very personal approach to getting ahead in a responsible and spiritual way. I recommend this book to anyone searching for new solutions to the critical problems we face today.

I was a graduate student of Tom Marcoux, and he taught me the material that is found in this book. Tom taught real and practical methods, which I implemented into my midpoint presentation (my proposal for my graduate school thesis). Tom's pointers, feedback and suggestions greatly improved my presentation's overall content and structure. My story was too long (about 2 minutes 30 seconds) and Tom helped me restructure the story to make it dynamic and last less than 1 minute. In his class, Tom also taught us how to deal with problematic situations. Thanks to Tom's class, I was able to handle the situation when one instructor attacked my presentation, and I smoothly returned to my presentation. I found it very effective to end my presentation with: "So I hope you will please say 'yes' to approving my thesis proposal. Thank you." The panel approved my presentation and thesis proposal quickly, and they said that it was very professionally done. Thank you Tom, for everything you have taught me.

Tom Marcoux is the "real deal." He's a master at communicating with tact and diplomacy and shows you how you can communicate in ways that help YOU to be heard and trusted by people who matter. Tom offers us useful, thoughtful and powerful ideas for getting through life's toughest situations so we come out smelling like a rose. I
especially like his chapter called The Truth No One Will Tell You.
It's very honest and straightforward.

A motivating read that translates to all life experiences. The book connects so many other motivating authors into one easy to read. The `find it - flip it - forward it' process has so many applications but I have to concede it won't be taking Tom's advice to become a rollercoaster `airtime' junkie. This book gives hints for taking control of known commitments to proactively avoid errors in a busy life so you don't have to play catch-up in your head. Reading over the pages of the book confirmed and reinforced for me that managers I work for do NOT have the skills explained in Tom's book. Even though the book focuses on employed and sales the techniques can be used during any persuasive communication.

Recently I had to sit through a conference dinner where the speaker had obviously NOT read Tom's book. While two colleagues fell asleep, I kept daydreaming about what a difference the speech would have been if she had read and implanted strategies from `Be Heard & Be Trusted'. There is so much information in 330 pages you will need a highlighter pen to keep you on the track for guidance and coaching.

Thanx Tom, for a good read.

Tom Marcoux has done it again with "Be Heard, Be Trusted." He's used his own persuasive powers to get many of the top gurus, coaches and success authors to share their wisdom with you -- this time on the topic of communication. Among the contributors are Jay Conrad Levinson, father of Guerilla Marketing and Guy Kawasaki. And of course, Tom shares many of his own insights and strategies. If you want to be a better communicator, to get people to actually listen to you and believe you, and then act on what you say, this book will show you how.
