This book is a great practical guide to what leadership is.,

Eims does a great job of clearly defining what leadership is all about. This is a book I have gone back to as a reminder of why I am in ministry and what I should focus on with the people I work with. I highly recommend it.

This review is from: Be a Motivational Leader (Paperback)
The men's group at our church used this book as our study recently and we found it to be an excellent work on leadership in general. Each chapter focuses on one quality of leadership, for example: being responsible, inspiring, communicating, and goal-oriented (there are 12). In each chapter, Eims describes that quality, illustrates good (and bad) applications of it with brief stories from his own experience, points out some Bible passages related to that quality, discusses practical ways to live out that quality, and sometimes mentions major pitfalls to avoid. There are study notes and questions related to each chapter at the end of the book (our group didn't discover them until half-way through the study!).The only fault I would find with this book (and the reason for only four stars) is that it is short in places on reference to Scripture to back up its claims. Our study found support for most (if not all) the claims about leadership through our own study, but the book did not supply it in every place. That may be intentional on the part of the book, but I did not see it stated so. While this book speaks to leadership in general, our group discussed the principles in relation to our families and found it very helpful in that context. I recommend this book for personal study, but even more for group study.
