5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Song
"Be My Last" has got to be one of the best songs i have heard from her. Her voice is as good as it gets, and its not nosie sounding like Britney Spears or Ayumi Hamasaki. A good song thats really catchy. Get the video if you get a chance it is definitly interesting to say the least.:)

3.0 out of 5 stars Weak Release
'Be My Last' is the theme song for the Japanese film 'Haru no Yuki'. It's in a very different style than her previous works.

This song is very minimal in arrangement, using basically only acoustic guitar and Hikki's voice. The composition is splendid and original, and Hikki sings beautifully as always.

The downside to this release is that it only...

"Be My Last" sounds nice to my ears. Its quite different from Utada's past works. The music video is also nice. Utada fans might find this song startling in either a bad way or a good way. I overall liked the song and am looking forward to hearing her future hits.

i had just introduced one of my friends to hikki and was complaining to him that she hadnt come out with anything since end of 2002. so i took a trip to her website and saw the announcement for her new single. after the disappointment of exodus, this is a gorgeous song and hikki does an amazing job of controlling her voice and conveying her emotions.

With lyrics like "I was mistaken in love, but it wasn't a mistake" and "More than being connected someday, I want to see you for one hour tonight..." it's hard not to fall in love with this sad and poignant song.

We love you hikki! Write stuff like this for your next english album attempt. I guarantee people won't shy away!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Her Best, July 7, 2006

Normally I can't stand these type of songs but once I saw the CM of her single I just had to listen to it. It's very different from her usual style and she sung it so well. Be My Last is one of my favorites on her Ultra Blue CD

4.0 out of 5 stars Heartbreaking and haunting, November 16, 2005
This review is from: Be My Last (Audio CD)
After the debacle that her English debut "Exodus" was, this song really showcased the true beauty and talent this Japanese singer/songwriter is all about. It does not take one to know the Japanese language to feel the longing and emotions invested into this song. "Be My Last" is a return to the days of "Deep River" with a new maturity gained from the lessons of her older works. The only fault I have with this single is that it does not include any remixes or instrumentals (unless you've bought the special cd/dvd one). Overall, a great piece of artistry!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great single, but needed more to it, August 18, 2008
This review is from: Be My Last (Bonus Dvd) (Audio CD)
Be My Last is one of my favorite songs by Utada Hikaru. It's catchy and beautiful. The single is the CD+DVD Version and that's the version I suggest you get. The CD only comes with Be My Last. I wish she added a Karaoke or a remix or even a B-side to add more value to it. The DVD comes with the music video for Be My Last. It's a complicated music video but it's sad and beautiful. I also wish she would have added a Making of or something to it. I suggest you buy Be My Last for the music video. Make sure you get the CD+DVD. The CD isn't worth it by it self.

"Be My Last" is definately one of Hikki's very best singles. After the release of Exodus, I was thoroughly disgusted with her, but it seems that she's developed a bit more of a refined, matured sound back in Japan. The video is fantastic, highly spiritual and captivating. You just want to know how it ends! Definately recommended for fans of her Deep River and Distance albums, as well as others who like other artists such as Do As Infinity, Garnet Crow, or Gackt. <3
