Racing Kites delivers big with 'Be My Runaway',

It seems like only yesterday when Racing Kites debuted on MySpace in 2005 with their sing-along favorite "Hands Against The Sky" (off of their 'We Hold It All Together' E.P.). Since then they have played coast to coast, earning spots from Bamboozle to the Warped Tour, leaving a wake of adoring fans and listeners anticipating a new record.
In 2006 they released 'We Hold It All Together', and now two years later, we have the follow up E.P. 'Be My Runaway'. And the answer is: yes, it is worth the wait. Amidst the plethora of rock/pop 20 something-er bands out there, what makes Racing Kites unique? Well for starters, its the lyrics of and voice of singer Alex Ziabko. His voice stands apart from other front men on the "scene", and each song has a beautiful aspect of romance to it (listen to the track "Be My Runway"). Each song displays maturity and substance, something that is unexpectedly hard to find the genre you would classify Racing Kites in. The E.P. kicks off with "Takeover", and steals your heart away with "My Everything", a strummy, toe tapping, sing along love song. My personal favorite is "Tonight's Attraction", which has an almost 1980's rock out feel to it. A lot of people consider Racing Kites one of the best unsigned bands on the market right now. And after listening to 'Be My Runaway', I'm sure you will see why. All that's left now for fans to crave is a full length album. |
