With the exception of The Donnas, I had never heard of these groups, and most of them, according to Amazon's artist profiles, formed in the 90's and have broken up (although some are still together). So why put out an album of defunct bands from over a decade ago? Who cares?! This stuff's free and it rocks!
1. Are You Gonna Move It For Me? (The Donnas): This song is so full of attitude that I was reminded of The Runaways. It's been a long time since I heard a female band rock. Great track to kick off the album. 2. Sorry For Freaking Out On The Phone Last Night (The Mr. T Experience): There's something about this song that sounds to me like classic R.E.M. Again, that's my impression, and I definitely don't mean the vocals, but the style. Good track. 3. Under The Hedge (Ted Leo/Pharmacists): According to Amazon, Ted Leo has been in music for 10 years, and the Pharmacists play like they found the sound they've been looking for. Good stuff. 4. Eating Toothpaste (Bratmobile): You gotta love a group named Bratmobile. If this song is any indication of the band's style, then Bratmobile does for punk music what the Donnas do for rock: Show up, play and take no prisoners! 5. Ear Nose And Throat (Troubled Hubble): Quirky punkish song. Okay. 6. Face It (The Reputation): A little more poppish than the rest of the songs, but the vocalist has a good voice. May seem a little out of place on this collection, but still a great song. 7. Deconstruct/Rebuild (Small Brown Bike): Okay, I know somebody's gonna disagree with me here and that's okay, but to me this song is reminiscent of a hard Cure song, particularly in the style of "Burn" from "The Crow" soundtrack. Whatever the description, it's a great track. 8. Shrapnel (American Steel): Maybe by this time in the album everything just kind of runs together. Maybe it's me. Anyway, this song is okay, but I usually skip it. 9. Ride The Nuclear Wave (The Oranges Band): Great rock song to end this collection. Makes you want to play it all over again. Bottom line: Great free download.

Too bad Green Day took their catalog from Lookout, or this would probably have "Going to Pasalacqua". This sampler has some great songs from the lookout records catalog. "Ear Nose Throat" by Troubled Hubble is positively addictive. Most of the other songs are also the upbeat, fast poppy stuff that Lookout is great at putting out. All the tracks are worth listening.

Worth it for The Mr. T Experience alone!,

Definitely a good mix from a select & versatile group in the alt rock genre that you'll dig. My personal fave is the always interesting Mr. T Experience, love the music and the lyrics always shine. (The lead singer, Dr. Frank, wrote a book, "King Dork", an outstanding read) Some pretty cool bands that might not be on your radar (Troubled Hubble, The Oranges Band) are included here, as well as established artists such as The Donnas, who never fail to kick out the mf jams!

I rather enjoy several artists from this compilation, but while the selections were varied - this set of selections lacked consistency or energy. Too bad.

My tastes run from pop/rock to alternative.. and this seems to be covering all the bases. I might go and pick up some more from these artists

Nothing I liked. It's free, give it a try. It isn't my favored genre of music.
