It feels hefty and solid in the hand, but the little-bitty wire spring inside is flimsy.

Great idea, poor quality...

I purchased one of these nifty gadgets for my husband, who has trouble with arthritis. We were so intrigued that we immediately ordered a second as a gift. The first one opened about 18 bottles before its innards were sprung. No longer anxious to give the other as a gift, we kept it, hoping that the first one was just a dud. The second one is not dead yet, but it doesn't have long.

It feels hefty and solid in the hand, but the little-bitty wire spring inside is flimsy. Not one of my best purchases from amazon.com and I wouldn't recommend this product if you expect it to last through more than a case of brew.

Attack of the 12 pack

Interesting little gem which actually worked for 11 times 'til I got to the end of a 12 pack of water my wife makes me drink. Then it kind' a sighed, gave a short springy gasp and died. After trying several attempts as resuscitation, I left its brushed aluminum body lay silently on the counter. I informed my well meaning spouse of the contraption's early demise and blamed it on the water.

Great Gadget

I love this gadget!!! It's great and works really well. Plus, when people see it; the response is ALWAYS - "Wow, how cool is that?" They must have had a hiccup with production; because I had one that wasn't as solid but then I recently sent one to a friend and it is a little workhorse.....so it seems that the people that make them changed something to make sure these things last. They also have great customer service and make sure you're happy with the product.

Even cooler than the plastic version...

I've got the plastic and steel verisions of the "Be Open" and it was such an incredible hit at our parties, I've reviewed the plastic one too. The steel has that heavy, good feel in the hand... You wouldn't know from just looking at it, but the design is unlike any bottle opener I've ever seen. When you press down on the opener, a clever mechanical action easily pops the cap off, whether it's a twist-off or pry-top, and usually leaves it hanging from a magnet on the side. The crazy thing is how much fun it is to do! I think it's partly because people are so surprised by it; and it's so easy, clever, and just different than anything they've seen. It's a great gift. I've already given away three!

Broke the glass!

DO NOT BUY THIS! DANGEROUS!!

It broke a chip off the top of the very first two bottles I tried to open and deposited the broken chip INSIDE the bottle and left a dangerously sharp edge on the rim of the bottle!!! Returning for full refund!

Piece of Junk

We ordered this product because we were unable to get "The World's Greatest Bottle Opener" from another merchant, who was so backordered that we wouldn't be able to get it in time for a Christmas gift. The product looks exactly the same, but trust me it doesn't compare in terms of quality. We started using it as soon as we got it and noticed it took a couple of tries to get some caps off. Then, over the next few weeks, we noticed it got worse and finally this week a spring popped out of it and it no longer works at all. What a piece of junk. Don't waste your money, get the real thing (IF you can find it).

An Excellent Addition To Your Kitchen Arsenal

I purchased a few of these as White Elephant gifts over the holiday season, and man were they a hit. Once you see it in action, it's all good fun from there. Sturdy and much lighter than it appears, this bottle opener does the job while putting a smile on your face in the process. The Stainless version is what I selected as it makes the bottle opener feel like it's worth much more than it really is. One thing that surprised me is how little effort is needed to open a bottle. Other than that, I would highly recommend the Be Open bottle opener.

Not What Expected

I thought this would be a great addition to our local bar but I was wrong. I could tear a cap off with my teeth faster and better than this opener. It was very unreliable and wouldn't catch the cap everytime. And some bottles were like prying a weld off a post. And when that happens, you are stuck with an un-opened beer and the bottle opener stuck to the top until you finally get it off.

A great novelty item that you could look at but not use. Don't show people you have one or you could embarass yourself trying to open a bottle.

Good concept, not that durable

I bought one for me and one for a friend (after I "broke" his). They are a pretty nifty way of opening a beer, but neither of them lasted more than a year.

Bottle opener

The opener slips a lot and the opening of a bottle is either a hit or miss. I have a plastic one as well and that one seems to work a lot better.
