5.0 out of 5 stars Be Ya Self
This is a great song. It makes me want to dance, and I never dance, so that's odd. It's also a great mood booster. Fun fun fun.

3.0 out of 5 stars IT'S NOT RAW LIKE SUSHI BUT...
Many compared Tarsha Vega to my wife Neneh.Like N,Tarsha mixed witty rhymes with singing and an electic blend. She released an album in 2000 on RCA(Diamonds And Monsters) that's curiously out of print. My question is how can an album that barely was promoted be out of print? Anyhow,I remember seeing her do some press when she intially dropped but I forgot about her until I...

A Kid's Review
I just heard this song today when i was watchin a rerun of Roswell. It was on the second episode of the second season of Roswell - the episode was Ask Not. Liz, Maria, Isabel, and Tess were jammin' to the great song. I highly recommend Be Ya Self to anyone who likes a great dance song with a great beat. Awesome song Tarsha Vega! You go girl! And Long Live Roswell!!!

Anyhow,I remember seeing her do some press when she intially dropped but I forgot about her until I got back into my wife's music.I now really wanted to hear Tarsha's music but it was out of print!

Then one week while at a New Jersey The Wiz store,I spot several copies of Tarsha's currently out of print debut single,
"Be Ya Self".For a low price. So of course,I picked it up! Now let's get to the music:I can defintely see the Neneh in Tarsha but she's not as great as my wife yet."Be Ya Self" is a peppy,
catchy track featuring some cute, witty rhymes and a Run DMC sample and a childlike melody.Very teenybopperish.Whether Nen's music was very mature and sophiscated(see "ManChild" for proof),
Tarsha seemed targeted to teen girls or viewers of WB teen dramas. The other track "Coney Island High" is lackluster and is plain corny.Like "Self",it's very cutesy and teenybopperish.

"Be Ya Self" isn't a great song but it's catchy. And Tarsha was managed by MC Lyte's brother,Nathan(a little fact for you)hence the Lyte reference on "Self".So yeah,Tarsha won't be making N.C.
nervous but she's cute and she seems to have a little talent.Too bad she's fallen into oblivion...
