I recently discovered this group when browsing for some music and i found i really liked them. Their different from all the other groups because of the type of music, songs they pick and their wonderful harmonies. I like that they don't go with everyone else and sing with "Christian Rock", they sing nice songs some with an african twist and the songs they use are some of the most beautiful hymns. This cd will bring u closer to God and lift you up. I plan on buying all of Selah's cds.

This is a CD for anyone who's ever struggled in their faith due to pain and problems in daily life. It's got to be one of the most inspirational recordings I've ever heard. It's so simple - a couple of guys and a girl singing along with a piano - and yet it'll blow you out of your socks with how powerful it is.

I was going through one such struggle myself a few days ago, and I prayed and asked God for reassuance. The very next day my Selah CDs arrived in the mail from Amazon.com. To put it simply my prayers were answered.

I put the CD on and began doing the dishes. All the way through the disc I was pulled alternately between wanting to jump for joy and weep with gratitude. The overall message of Be Still My Soul is "Yes, God is there, and he does care. He still loves you no matter what." The Spirit of God was stirred up inside me, and not only did I begin to realize how much God really does love me, I also realized how much he loves and hurts for every single person going through pain and problems as well. It was a very faith-affirming experience, and as I said, a direct and powerful answer to the prayer I had prayed the day before.

This CD has uninanimously received 5-stars from every single reviewer so far, and deservedly so. Be sure and buy a copy for anyone who is struggling with grief, pain, fear, loss, doubt or depression, or who has come through such a struggle and is getting back on their feet. Be sure and pick up a copy for yourself if you are going through these same things. You will be encouraged and inspired beyond what you can imagine.

The market is full of artists and gospel "wanna-be's" covering numerous hymns. Fortunately, many of the buying public avoid the half-hearted efforts and gravitate toward the quality recordings, but the arena of christian music is saturated by a large number of "hymn hits". Happily, Selah visits the art of singing hymns with a reverance and a sincerity that proves infectious.

Todd and Nicol Smith are brother and sister. Much like The 2nd Chapter of Acts, they demonstrate that siblings sing and harmonize well together. As youngsters, the Smiths spent many of their formative years in Ziare as missionary children, and you can hear the influences of a delightful African sound on a couple of recordings. However, the strength of this CD rests upon the talent of the vocalists who pour out their hearts and souls through every song on the album.

No new stylistic innovations are developed here. It is basically a simple approach of voices and piano, but a few songs feature additional instruments and vocalists without smothering the tunes. Each arrangement sounds as if it was prayerfully considered and performed as a worshipful offering to God.

It is easy to sing along and participate with Todd and Nicol on this album. Do not be surprised if this CD spends a great deal of time spinning in a compact disc player near you.

I bought this CD immediately after listening to Selah on the 700 club. What voices!!! I tear up a lot when I listen to this CD. Those old hymns are wonderful and they sound ever better when sung by Selah. My son definitely likes this CD too. (and he's only 6 months old) One night driving home after a visit to the mom-in-law's, my son was fussy in the car seat. I just popped in the CD and not even halfway into "Be Still My Soul", he was fast asleep. Ever since then, the CD has been in the portable CD player in his room. We listen to it every day before and sometimes during his naptimes. It is so soothing and calming and comforting. Most of all it's inspiring. I love to sing along with all the songs. This CD will be given out as Christmas gifts this year to more than one person! I have got to spread the word about this group. I hope they have plans to do more CD's. I will definitely buy them! I also hope there will be plans for some touring??? If so, PLEASE come to Maryland!!!! I'm sure there are plenty of gospel shows that would be blessed by the appearance of Selah! God has blessed US with them!

I don't know if my words can adequately express Selah. Todd, Nicol, and Allen will touch your soul. The music on this CD is some of the most awesome praise and worship music that I have ever heard. One Thing I Know in particular touches my heart. Todd does the solo on this song and it talks about walking with God and how he can show us the light and take our pain away if we will let him. I just had the pleasure of seeing them in concert on Thursday, February 15, at FBC Ridgeland, MS. I have never met more genuine people. After the show was over, I had the pleasure of talking to Todd about what their music has meant to me. In particular I talked to him about the song "One Thing I Know." It is a very meaningful song to me after the death of my mother. Todd was so attentive and told me how much he appreciated me letting him know that something he has done was an inspiration to me. What a guy! He talked with me and hugged me after our conversation. I also witnessed he and his sister Nicol sing "It Is Well With My Soul" to a lady who was obviously in alot of pain. They put their arms around her and sang to her and prayed for her. If you want music that is genuine and from the heart then you have found it with Selah! I promise you that you won't be disappointed.

i have listened to contemporary christian music for years but have somehow missed out on selah- until now. i heard "it is well with my soul" on the radio and HAD to get the cd. the music and harmonies are beautiful. i highly recommend this cd!

...but Selah is SO GREAT!!! I can hardly wait for their next cd(May 25 - mark your calenders!) and their solo CDs (sometime this fall)! They are talented, unique, and undefinable by current Christian genres. I HIGHLY recommend this (and all their) CDs!

Be Still My Soul is a wonderful album with all the favorite hymns and songs. It includes my favorite hymn, "His Eye Is On The Sparrow". The album is rich with great vocals and a sweet melody. It contains songs such as "Great Is Thy Faithfulness", "His Eye Is On The Sparrow", "It Is Well With My Soul", "When I Survey The Wonderful Cross", "The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power", "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus", plus more! These hymns are great for praise and worship in a setting outside of the church.
Selah is an awesome group that I wish would come to my church to sing! Their album truly gives God all the glory, and I truly love the way the group sing and play these songs from their hearts. They sing with a great standard. They sing what they believe and believe what they sing.
Be Still My Soul has impacted my life because it has created another way I can worship and glorify God. It is a wonderful album that I would recommend for anyone to listen.

This CD is typical of what you might hear from Selah. It is peppy and energetic, but also reverant, serious, and very lyrical.

I think I enjoy the "Press On" CD a bit more, but this CD is still good. "Wayfaring Stranger", a song on this CD, is very heartfelt and conveys strong emotions.

Although, I grew up with Nicol and Todd in former Zaire, they become my favorite music group without me having a clue who they were. A friend brought a copy of "Be Still My Soul" to Bangladesh. Even though we had a wide selection of Christian music with us, their album became our favorite, hands down. The music was inspiring, spiritual, heartfelt. It wasn't until returning to the states and putting the copied CD into my lap top that I was suprised to see their pictures come up as the computer queried the database of artist. Great Job Todd and Nicol.
