Finally, a book with real tips. This up to date guide is great for writers, (especially those who self publish) and anyone who wants to improve their editing skills. It has up to date advice about different types of writing - fantasy, dialogue, essay, blog... The grammar tips are right on target. The author's sense of humor is evident throughout this book, which makes this an informative AND entertaining read. A must read for all writers!

A must have book for writers. I got more out of this book than I did my text books in college. Good grammer examples that drive the point home.

It offers excellent advice for all. Whatever stage you have reached on your writing journey this book is a must. It is so informative I do not think it will ever gather dust on your book shelf.

It's written in a conversational tone that avoids the sense of being "lectured to." This book is ideal for helping the writer avoid some of the many basic gaffes and errors that make editors cringe. Whether your issue is punctuation, word choice, or just "how to make your fiction sing," this book will help!

I'd already read the Stephen King, On Writing Well,and Strunk books on writing and still found some helpful tips here. An enjoyable and informative read. Highly recommended.

Sigrid offers writers terrific examples of how to polish both fiction and nonfiction. Her clear instruction will help you tighten your writing and omit nonessential elements. When it comes to the basics, the Common Spelling and Grammar Mistakes and Word Usage chapters are especially helpful in weeding out those universal errors we all seem to make. Most of us can use a refresher course in comma usage or when to use who vs. whom or fewer vs. less and Sigrid covers several of those common usage conundrums. The Pop Quizzes are a fun addition and will reinforce the lessons learned. All in all an excellent resource for your writing library.
