5.0 out of 5 stars If you like Messenger bags, this is one of the best
It's the little things that speak volumes about this bag's quality, like the zipper that's contoured so your fingers won't slip, the metal strap adjustors, and the multitude of nets and pockets set against a neon-green interior which makes everything easy to find.

My only real complaint is the color, I like my bags to stand out a bit more. I also have one silly complaint that I'm not including in my star review, as this messenger bag does everything you'd want a messenger bag to do, but after using this a week I went back to my backpack. Two shoulders are better than one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Functional, but not as nice as expected, May 31, 2009

I've always liked be.ez' bag design for the most part, and had somewhat high hopes for this messenger. Ultimately it doesn't amount to much more than what you'd expect from a standard laptop bag. If you'd like something slightly more creative, smaller and with its own set of problems, be.ez makes a vertical messenger that is, in my opinion, a little bit nicer (though has some comfort issues with the strap where this bag does not). Don't get me wrong--this bag is a nice bag, but you can get the same function out of pretty much anything else for less money. If you're paying for anything here, it's going to be style (and that assumes you like the style of this bag).

Let's start off with the good stuff first, though. You can fit up to a 15" laptop (though it was designed for the MacBook Pro, the space looks big enough to fit pretty much any 15" or smaller PC). There's a fair amount of room for various things, a couple of pockets here and there and a few pencil/pen holders. The interior is bright green, which is (in theory) going to help you see things inside the bag because the material is brightly colored and slightly reflective. The bag has a few outside pockets (but they're not really all that great because they either have the potential to create an uncomfortable lump in the bag or just store not much of anything at all). The construction of the bag is excellent. It is very well bad. Where I've seen other be.ez bags fail is the strap, but this one doesn't. While the strap is really nice and seatbelt-like (which scores some cool-factor points for me, at least) it's not very comfortable. Here, be.ez includes a nice cushion (which is removable if you don't want it) and it works very well. This bag can handle a reasonable amount of weight. If you're not going to put tons of little things in it, you should be in pretty good shape.

The problem for me, and I think the general problem nowadays, is that gadgets are plentiful and small. It makes organization pretty difficult when you have a bunch of tiny things in a big open space. This bag does not help that much because of a lack of pockets. A messenger bag that excels in this area is the Tenba messenger, and it can safely carry your (D)SLR and several lenses along with more than you'd realistically carry in this bag. I'd say it's the same size, but I have the small version (which is smaller than this bag and yet can carry more and do a better job of it) and so I don't know how the size of the larger version compares. To me, it's a no brainer: get the Tenba Messenger. However, if you're essentially carrying a couple of gadgets, a laptop, some pens and a bunch of paper this bag will do fine. Just don't expect it to handle a lot.

Ultimately it's not a bad bag. It looks nice, but it's just pretty average. I think the only place it really excels is in its style and its construction. Everything else is something you've seen and probably used before.

3.0 out of 5 stars Style and Protection at a Price, June 14, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Be.ez 100726 LA besace 15 Lime Drop Messenger Bag for Macbook Pro 15 (Grey / Lime) (Personal Computers)
I just got my LaBesace Lime Drop Bag. I like it but would never pay the $90 price they're selling for on Amazon now (Apple is asking $110). I bought mine in 06/2009 for $35 in a Lightning Deal. That's probably an appropriate price for what you get.

It's a nice, oddly shaped (but functional) messenger bag. As opposed to typical messenger bags, this does not have an expansive space inside. But it will carry your laptop in a padded section and your charger and other accessories in the 'bulge'. Obviously it won't make your bag deformed like a typical attache style bag since it already is. I would say at its widest, it's about 6".

There is a pocket for papers. and pockets inside for pens, credit cards, and one that looks like it would fit a passport nicely. Also inside is a zippered pouch that easy to get to. The inside of the flap also has a zippered pouch with see through material that covers most of the flap.

On the downside, the bag closes with a pair of zippers that run around the edge of the flap. You could carry the bag unzipped but there is only material covering the bottom 2-3"of the opening. Another drawback is the lack of a handle.

There are two pockets on the outside. One running diagonally across the flap, and one with a vertical zipper in the back that would be easy to forget that you put something in it. Neither of them have any depth. The front one is the size of most of the flap.

The bag is made of what appears to be a heavyweight cordura nylon. Open the flap and you're blasted by the day-glo lime green interior. It definitely is a fashion statement, both in shape and in color.

For the $35 I paid, I'm quite satisfied with this purchase.

Oh, one last thing. I use a 17" MacBook Pro. With a little effort I can just squeeze it in the padded section (fits easily if I put it in front of the padding). I would guess, depending on who stitched your bag, it might or might not fit your 17" MacBook

I get compliments on this all the time. It fits my MacBook Pro perfectly, with room for the charger and a couple of notebooks. The cushioned strap is nice, too. Holding up well, too.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good, save quality control and customer service issues, September 11, 2011
This review is from: Be.ez 100726 LA besace 15 Lime Drop Messenger Bag for Macbook Pro 15 (Grey / Lime) (Personal Computers)
I've had problems with my Classic bag; however, I also love the bag. I've owned my Classic for the past two years and it's been all over the world with me: Europe, Middle East, Africa, etc. It's been a real trooper.

I purchased the bag over Amazon and have just now started to have problems. Unfortunately, I think the issues may be terminal, and I wanted to let others know what to expect. In short, the problem is twofold:

1) the seams seem to be splitting on the bag's flap; and
2) the zipper(s) are having a hard time staying on track.

I take good care of my bag, so I don't think it's 'abuse' that's lead us to this point.

To make matters worse Be.ez customer service seems to be non-existent. I've sent multiple emails and have not heard back from the company in over two months... To be honest: I am very disappointed with Be.ez, as a company, and would caution anyone looking at their products for this reason.

All this aside, the bag still looks good but there are indeed quality control and customer service issues that need to be solved.

3.0 out of 5 stars Attractive design, but quality control issues, August 26, 2011
This review is from: Be.ez 100726 LA besace 15 Lime Drop Messenger Bag for Macbook Pro 15 (Grey / Lime) (Personal Computers)
The first 15" Lime Drop bag I ordered arrived with a broken zipper on one of the internal pockets. Amazon's return service is great, and they replaced the product less than 24 hrs after I completed the super quick online process. The new one arrived with no broken zippers, but the interior lining is bunched up quite a bit at the stitching. It looks kind of cheap, but as Chinese-made bags go, this is near the upper end of the price scale.

Be.ez makes an otherwise stylish, functional, comfortable bag. If they better monitored their factories in the Far East, I could recommend this product without question. But after seeing two slightly off examples, I'm not real confident in them.

By contrast, our Skip Hop diaper bag at the same price is bullet-proof and incredibly well made. And that's for disposable diapers, not $3,000 laptops...

3.0 out of 5 stars The bag is not waterproof, June 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Be.ez 100726 LA besace 15 Lime Drop Messenger Bag for Macbook Pro 15 (Grey / Lime) (Personal Computers)
I bought this bag because I commute into New York City and wanted something waterproof for rainy days. The bag is nice and has space for all of my things, including my macbook, however it is not waterproof. The material of the bag seems to be waterproof but the seams are not. On a very rainy day most of my things got wet. Luckily my macbook was in the inner section and was not damaged, but the rest of my things were ruined. The bag was expensive compared to most regular messenger bags and was not worth the money since it is not really waterproof. Also, the strap could be stronger.

The three star reviews pretty much cover the readily apparent cons of this bag. I am very happy with it however, and its inability to stand and lack of handles are small concessions to its overall utility, good looks and comfort in use.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I guess the design concept is neat but in my opinion... ugly. I wouldn't carry it for that reason alone. However, I will say that the item isn't as bulbous as it appears in the picture. There are zippers on the outside that open up to these small pockets. They're useful for stowing away... well nothing, because they're too small :-/. I think the idea was create an eye catching design to stand out amongst the sea of laptop cases - but they completely overlooked functionality. Three stars because the bag itself is very well constructed (ie - won't fall apart) and is made with very nice materials.

5.0 out of 5 stars lime drop computer bag- not just a pretty face, September 13, 2009
By
This review is from: Be.ez 100726 LA besace 15 Lime Drop Messenger Bag for Macbook Pro 15 (Grey / Lime) (Personal Computers)
I recently purchased the lime drop 15" messenger computer bag. It is well made, with a tough covering that looks professional on the outside-nice grey, but fun on the inside-a great lime color. The bag holds the computer in its own protective compartment, and there is ample room for papers, plugs/cords, etc. I would have liked an outside pocket for a cell phone. The bag closes with a zipper-it would have been easier access with velcro. But these are minor faults-it has rapidly become my go to bag.
