5.0 out of 5 stars
Perfect for music-loving toddlers!, April 13, 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Carry-a-Tune MP3 Player (Toy)
This is a great product. My two-year old loves music but destroyed two CD-players by constantly pressing the buttons and opening and closing the units; I was searching for a durable MP3 player without lots of buttons and "Carry A Tune" is exactly what I was looking for. It is easy to hold, durable (has been dropped and even thrown down a flight of stairs and still worked) and allows you to download your own MP3s or children's music CDs onto it. The buttons are simple but still a little bit beyond my son's understanding. An excellent feature is the auto-off feature which saves batteries. Battery life is pretty good.
We discovered recently, however, that the unit is not waterproof when it was dropped into the bathtub by my son. Of course, it is not supposed to be waterproof. We love this so much I am going to buy another one.

Good idea but not great execution, May 3, 2010

I did extensive research on MP3 players for toddlers and I couldn't believe that this was the only durable product on the market, so I decided to get it regardless of the high price (lets not forget that this is only MP3 player with small speaker).
The good:
- very durable
- good sound
- headphone jack
The bad:
- the price - you can get ipod nano for less
- the hidden volume control is a great idea, but to access it you have to hold the play/stop button, which also turns on the player, therefore my kid gets into the parents menu instead of turning on the player. I forgot to mention that you have to hold on to that same button for a sec to turn it on, then you hold on again to get into the menu. In few words my 2 years old daughter lost interest pretty quick when the music doesn't come on.
- the auto shut option is also a great idea, but after the device turns itself off it doesn't remember the setting and when the toddler turns it back on it can stay on until the batteries are dead.
My daughter lost interest after 2 days and she loves music, so I got her the old fashion boom box and it works great so far. I saw that there were many good reviews and I hate to bash a product, but I want it to give one more perspective for future buyers.

Perfect for a Music Loving Toddler, October 28, 2009

We've had this player about 6 months now, and we're so happy with it that I wanted to come back and submit a review, something I rarely take the time to do.
This thing is durable! We bought it for our two year old who absolutely loves music. He has pressed the buttons manically, looking for his favorite song, and more than once thrown it down hard on the tile floor, but it still works like new. I love the volume control, something every toy should have but many don't. Also there is a ton of room for music, but I find it best to keep the playlist pretty short, so my son can more easily find what he is looking for. I do recommend using the auto off feature, or it will play until the batteries are dead.
I see that a couple of other people have had problems, but mine worked fine right out of the box. I've not had any trouble adding additional music to it, as long as the songs are in mp3 format. (I can't move stuff from iTunes.) Loading the music is easy; it's basically just drag and drop.
